Different Morphs Same Terrarium?
So it turns out my brother wants a leopard gecko too. He did all the research and wants a bold stripe but i want a tremper or bell albino. Can two females be placed in the same terrarium or would they stress eachother out? Also, say we buy them unsexed and they end up breeding, what would i do with the hybrids? I wouldn't have enough space or money to house all of them.

Re: Different Morphs Same Terrarium?
Yes two females of the same morph could go in together BUT there are many different things to consider when housing two leopard geckos together. They may fight even though they are both female. At this may happen at any time. I had two females that were kept together for 3 years and all of a sudden one day they started fighting and that was it...they needed to be seperated. Fighting can be over food, the "best" spot with the best belly heat, or just dominance(to name just a few).
Also, you will never know if they are both eating, who has been pooping and who has not pooped. If one gets sick it is likely that the other one can catch whatever the other one has.
These are just some of the things to consider before housing any leos together. Most people prefer not to for these reason, including the most experienced breeders.
I know that it would be great to be able to have a big tank and get a few of them BUT it is not worth it in my opinion.
Now, if you really feel that you would like to get two and house them together you really need to look at getting a large tank. Having many hides both warm and cool. Have two feeding dishes, two water dishes and pretty much double of everything to be able to give them choices to get away from each other.
Hope this helps

Yes that definately helps and we have a 50+ gallon tank and we spent all of our money on that so what would you reccomend doing if they do fight?

Re: Different Morphs Same Terrarium?
The real point to take away from here is that different morphs are not sub species. A tremper albino and a bell albino, or bold stripes or super snows, are no different as long as they are leopard geckos.
Morphs are just colors.

With a big 50 gallon you could divide it in half, and then each of you could have a gecko and 25 gallons for your gecko. Thats what I am planning to do once my baby gecko has grown a bit.
Make sure you QT your geckos before putting them together!

You can house two females together. But its better to house them on their own. This way you are reducing the risk of stress and fighting (that can still occur with females) and its easier to keep records on for yourself. Generally you can house two females together better than two males (ovbi) but stated above you can still run into problems. Commonly they will fight over food or space and one may become more dominate than the other.
Housing a Bell/Tremper albino with a Bold stripe is completely fine. That wouldn't result in high breeds though. The Bold stripe bit is just the type of patterning, rather than a morph. Breeding them (in case this ever happened) wont cause any problems.
I suggest you don't keep them together if you are buying them unsex. Males mature quicker than females and if this happens your likely to run into all types of problems. Egg boundess not enough calcium etc etc. best to keep them separate or buy sub adults where you know the sex and age of them

If you find they are stressing each other out you can cover the divider with black construction paper or something so that they can't see each other:D
Re: Different Morphs Same Terrarium?
Surely though, if they are both male and within the same viv but with a divider between they will still smell each other and this will cause stress ?
