Say hello to my new addition!
I was roaming around the Reptile Classifieds-Arizona page on Facebook and found this little girl posted...she's a RAPTOR and, apparently, will not grow any larger than 35 grams! I couldn't resist...especially with her story.
The guy that posted her had owned her for approximately 6 months. The story goes that the original guy that had this RAPTOR wanted to get rid of his collection, so he took all of his geckos and dumped them into the owner of Predators Reptile Center's (where I got Typhon) lap. The owner then sold a majority of the geckos from the original guy's collection in a lot to the guy I bought this beauty from. Unfortunately, he does not know her age...I'm assuming she's over a year old.
And for another added twist, this guy I bought my new leo from actually knows and lives an apartment down and away from one of my friends that I am helping establish a dubia and mealworm colony with (who also works at Predators Reptile Center)! SMALL WORLD!
Without further delay, I present Delphyne (+1 if you understand why I named her this )! She weighs approximately 35 grams (weighed her at 36) and looks like she might have some slight MBD.
I was told by the guy that I got her from that she looked like that when he acquired her about six months ago...and he thinks that she might have been bred by the original owner before. Regardless, she's beautiful and my diamond in the rough.

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
When I read the thread title, I read "say hello to my little friend"
Anyways, that's a beautiful RAPTOR. It's a great example of a true RAPTOR with patternless-stripe, one of the first morphs that got me hooked initially. With some care you may be able to get it to recover from MBD.

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Thanks Mardy Hahah that title would be better reserved for a male leopard gecko named Scarface.
I think she's really pretty...It would be fantastic to help her recover from MBD if it's possible! I have some calcium without D3 in her tank...going to try and feed her something yummy tomorrow dusted in Repashy calcium plus. Maybe a roach? Maybe a silkworm? Who knows...that's the fun of it!
I just can't resist full eclipse eyes...they're so pretty and creepy at the same time...here's an example:
Scared the bejeesus out of me...
Also, I noticed something really pretty about her. She looks like she has eyeliner on her bottom lid...it's brown and soooo cute! I'm not sure if you can see it, but here's a quick pic.
On another note...she's really jumpy and skittish! She jumped out of my hands and onto my thigh (just a 5 inch drop...but it scared me silly! She's really flighty). Hopefully with some careful handling, she'll be just as relaxed as Typhon.

She's gorgeous! Congratulations on getting her!
You are so lucky, I've always wanted a APTOR or RAPTOR since I first found out about them. They are beautiful!
I hope her MBD gets taken care of quickly! Good luck!

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Holy COW! I just checked on her and there is calcium EVERYWHERE! It looks like she went nuts with it last night...there's even calcium in her water dish! Messy messy girl!
Delphyne is definitely a beauty...she's probably not going to be bred or even deemed as "breedable" because of her MBD and size (grr...I really hope the first owner didn't breed her as the other guy suspects!! She's way too tiny!!). With some TLC I'm sure she'll do well. I'll keep you guys updated on her, of course!
I'll send you a PM soon Sam.

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
HAHAHAHAHA, I have a couple that all they want to do is PLAY in their calcium. I have one that somehow even gets it all over his back and everything. He will look like he is going to shed that is how much he gets everywhere.
Congrats on the new one. She is gorgeous!!!

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Yeah she's definitely a little stinker. Surprisingly she got it in every nook and cranny of the tank...I have no idea how she got it behind the moist hide.
She "defecated" last night. Urate only, though. It's perfectly white which is good... Just fed her some dusted mealies and two small and yummy dusted silkworms. She hunts beautifully too...unlike Typhon. Lol.
I also noticed a few things. Is it normal for a leopard gecko with MBD to have smaller than normal limbs? And have a huge spinal curve? I thought she was just acting defensive in the picture, but now that I look at it, it's a huge hump. And I noticed that when she breathes, her ribs really compress? It's hard to describe but it's really really weird looking.
Other than that and being jumpy she seems healthy.
EDIT: Also, she spins. I might need to have a talk with the person I bought her from.

"Not growing beyond 35g" seems like a stretch. I think that with your level of proper care, you'll see her grow bigger in no time!

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Alright, I was checking her out more and it seems she had a lot of underlying problems...something she probably had since birth or from poor care from the first owner. Unfortunately, there would be no way for me to support her with such intensive care and vet trips. Instead of neglecting her, I took her back to the person I bought her from who is able to provide such care. I told him about some other things that seemed to be wrong with her and that she didn't have a "slight calcium deficiency problem."
But I didn't leave without another beautiful leopard gecko...I'll post pictures later, but it's an APTOR het RAPTOR that weighs about 9 grams.
If anyone in Arizona is willing to take on the RAPTOR, though, she is up for adoption. I will personally pick it up and drive her to you if you want. She's a great eater and a complete sweetheart...it breaks my heart knowing that there would be no way for me to keep up with what she would need.

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Yes, her spine will curve with MBD. I have two that look like hunch backs
Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Yeah I thought so. Did more reading up on it last night. When I got her, I assumed she didn't have more than just a slight efficiency. However...with it this bad...with my experience, there would be no way for me to give her a fair life. I mean...I'm attentive and a clean freak...but if anything were to happen like the MBD worsening, fractures, etc. and I would not be able to afford that unfortunately at this time. It would not be fair for her to suffer until I got money for a vet visit if that were to happen. Plus, if the MBD worsened, I've read something about needing calcium shots.
Like I said, too, she did a few other things that were questionable. She seems to maybe have something wrong with her mentally. She spins, her eye to head ratio is off, limbs are significantly smaller than what would be appropriate for her body...
Again, even though I can't take care of her based on my experience and inability, I know there will be someone else who would love to give her the care she needs and deserves. If anyone here in Arizona wants her (or even anyone within the US...he refuses to ship any geckos, but I can do it for you), please let me know and I'll tell him to hold onto the sweetheart. I think he'll be willing to hold her until temperatures get warmer to ship...if not, I can probably do it. I just want her to have a good home

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
Well Predators has a few nice things...I didn't get the leo from Predators, though. Predators got a bunch of leos from a guy who didn't want his anymore and then another guy bought the old guy's leos. So basically Guy A > Predators > Guy B. Predators was just the middle man.
I just want to clarify again if no one is reading my other posts that I don't have her anymore. Again, I could have kept her if her conditions were slight like I saw in the original pictures she had on the classified section. After having her overnight for observation, she just had a lot of issues that needed to be addressed by a vet that I cannot keep up with, especially since I'm a college student.
If anyone wants her, I will give you the number to the guy who has her. He will not ship, but if you want her, I'll ship her to you.
It was heart wrenching for me to just take her back after one day...I didn't want to, but again, it would be irresponsible of me to adopt her and not take care of her needs.
My actual newest addition is a Sunglow APTOR het RAPTOR temp. sexed female. I'm sorry for getting everyone's hopes up... I already feel the lowest of low. I'm sorry.

Re: Say hello to my new addition!
I don't think you give yourself enough credit Cerra, I know you could do it but bless you for looking for a good home for the little one. Here is the big thing for me....Is the MBD so bad that it can't eat. Their mouths can become so deformed they are not able to eat. I don't know if you have checked on that but that may be why it is soooo tiny.
