Flukers cricket gut load for meal worms?
I am going to pick up some meal worms for Hammy this weekend. I have two jars of flukers cricket gut load I thought maybe I could use it for the meal worms along with carrot and apple pieces. What does every one think?

Yep, you can use it.
I use mine for my mealworms occasionally. On the container it says it can be used for crickets or other feeder insects.

My mealworms actually don't touch the stuff. I put two cubes in there and all they did was get hard and shrivel up. =/ They prefer carrots over cubes.

I use foods like carrots, apples (veggies and fruits). I find my mealworms enjoy the carrots the most.

Re: Flukers cricket gut load for meal worms?
Hmmmm interesting. I do like the idea of knowing what my feeders are eating. Seams better and fresher.
So basicaly I can just use plain oat meal from the local food store along with some carrots, apples what about greens? I will also see if I can get bran and the local food store aswell.
I assume I could use this for crickets as well?
Thanks for all the help every one!!!

Re: Flukers cricket gut load for meal worms?
yes oat meal will be fine but I wouldn't use the quick cook type as it have had most of the bran removed to make it cook quicker, I find the mealworms don't really eat the greens; I would stick to apples, carrot's and potatoes. yes those would be fine for crickets but make sure you dont let the food go mouldy as mould can kill crickets quick.

Agreed with James!
Mouldy food also isn't good for your leos, obviously. Don't feed spinach. For some reason they make absorbing calcium difficult. Its weird.

As long as it is not a quick cooking one or instant oats or something like that, then I guess it will be fine

Re: Flukers cricket gut load for meal worms?
i housed mine in plain oatmeal, (oh one thing you will want to do if you don't already know is to put the oatmeal in the microwave for like 1 to 2 minutes to kill any mite eggs.) i also put gold fish flakes on the top for more protein, and then baby carrots for the water. i have found that apples can quickly make fruit flies and its very hard to get rid of them so i use carrots, you just need to be careful to take the carrots out about every 3 to 4 days and to make sure there is no mold growing anywhere, it kills them quickly.
Re: Flukers cricket gut load for meal worms?
if you're in England, you can get packs of plain oat for porridge in markets and in shops like tesco it's just in a see-through pack.. mornflake is the company would make the one I use.
