How to: feed meal worms? Empty How to: feed meal worms?

I'm looking to switch over to worms for my leos, as I'm concerned I'm not properly keeping the crickets and it might end up making them sick. Which/how do you feed worms?

Hey kodie.. glad to see you want to get away from crix... they're such a pain. The stink, the noise... no thanks. Depending on the age/size of your leo you might just want to move him to superworms. Also there's a thread in nutrition comparing the nutritional benefits of supers over mealies. Its an interesting enlightening read Wink

Usually I feed eros wih tweezers dropping the food in front of him. He usually comes to the front of his hide and I just drop them from over head. The plop of the super hitting. The floor ets his attention then the wriggle zeros him in then gone...right now he's eating 2-3 supers 2-3 days a week. If he were eating mealies, an adult leo could eat 10-15 per feeding 2_3 x a week! That's a lot of meaies esp. When supers are just as easy to keep (if not easier imo).

Eros wouldn't eat out of a dish when I got him. He was always hand fed (by his breeder, now by me). I haven't tried dish feeding again since our first failure during his first couple weeks with me.

So hope some of this helps Smile

Alright, I'll look into super's. The company I get my crickets from also deals in all varieties of worms, which is a blessing.

Yeah some just don't seem to be dish eaters and then some of my other will only eat out of a dish. I would try supers too as you don't have to feed as many. I have some fussy ones that will only eat meal worms and it takes aout 20 of them at each feeding to satisfy the leo.

Yep Smile My banana was brought up for her first year on crickets.. but I just couldn't cope with them.. they escaped, they smelt very bad, squeaked all night and they can nibble on your leo if you leave them in. So I switched to morioworms because they looked better than mealworms Smile They are much bigger than mealworms and they are so easy to look after Very Happy I just keep them in the tub I get them from the pet store in.. it's filled with that bran crumb stuff. I gutload them with stale bread or veg like carrots and apple Very Happy

Banana is hand-fed like Kel's Eros Smile I just get the morioworm in my fingers or tweezers and drop them in front of her.. but because she's so fussy she won't eat them unless they wiggle a lot Very Happy She eats between 2-3 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.. she will only eat like 1 on Sunday usually Very Happy or she gets a waxworm then Very Happy
