Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
Leopard geckos eat their shed so yes your leo will have decreased appetite before and after shedding for a couple days. It's completely normal.

Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
Hi Sarah.
Nobody has gone onto your account. Nobody, and i repeat nobody from the forum knows your password, unless you tell them. The title of your topic has been changed by the supervisor of this section to something more descriptive to what the thread is about.
The reason for this is to help the 'Search' feature. When the forum has a large archive of threads and topics, and members use the search feature, it will be much easier for the search and for them to find a topic relevant to their problem.
And im sorry Sarah, but it is within the rules (which should have been read upon registration) that the forum would appreciate the use of no text language. Certain things are allowed and a bit of leeway is of course given.
And the reason i ask for this is again it helps the search feature (nobody types into search boxes 'hw do u...?'), also it is often considered a little irritating and harder to read by forum members. There may be users on the forum who have maybe never owned a phone, or may be older and so don't understand text language. As i've previously mentioned, text language is allowed in the chatboxes.
Nothing was supposed to offend or annoy you Sarah, but being the admin, i have to enforce the rules.

Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
Glad to hear it, thank you very much.
In terms of your original question, its normal for gecko's to slow their eating.
Well actually they are not slowing their eating but only eating different
things.
As they eat their shed, this substitutes for a meal or two, and so they won't eat a couple of meals that you offer them.
I hope your gecko has no problems shedding for you

Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
awww! .. i wish mine shed out in the open but she hides in her moist hide tub and it's usually all been munched when i check.
when she was in the pet shop whilst i worked as a volunteer there.. they didnt use moist hides soo she was shedding out in the open and all stressed.. i had to go and get the shed off her toes and tail for her. pet shops annoy me.
<--- just before she shed at the start of the week

Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
a white mack snow? there are no mack snows that are white.. they all look like my banana. but there are other snow morphs.. like super snow, super snow enigmas, blizzards, diablo blancos and they are all gorgeous. I am obsessed with the snow morphs.
Re: lack of appetite due to shedding

Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
Mack snow will never really stay white their entire lives. Only a diablo blanco will do that and even then some seem to have a pale yellow tint to them. My boy is a bold mack snow who had a TON of white as a baby but not any more... here's a before and after of him to give you an idea how they mature
Baby Eros
Eros now
Slight yellow tinge esp. when he gets under bathroom lights (fluorescent lighting) or is warm (they get brighter when theyr'e warm, they're colors are more brilliant).
You can really see his pale yellow in this one where he's oiled up and having a fashion shoot
Or this one showing off his lovely calcium bubble in his armpit
When he is cold(er) his colors are dark like desert camo. No yellow and very kind of drab-ish.
He still has that heart shaped spot on his nose tho

Re: lack of appetite due to shedding
Thank you... his techinical morphology is bold mack snow, het bell, het patternless. Breeding is a HUGE undertaking onceyou take into account you'll need an incubator and tubs for the babies you hatch out, they can't all live together for ever. You have to have the knowledge of the morphology and health concerns of the female pretty much known to heart, and have 2 leos that actually won't hurt each other. Sometimes a male can't/won't breed properly with a female, they're just not compatible (brings to mind Sausage's post on another forum, how her leo got bitten practically in half by her male). There's a lot of risk with breeding so you have to know just about everything before getting into it, plus quarantining the new female for 30-90 days to make sure she is healthy and parasite free, the potential for egg binding, retained sperm plugs with the male... sooo much to know.
