lump on tail? Empty lump on tail?

Post by Mystic Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:12 pm

hey guys, i was feeding my little charm last night and i saw a little lump at the base of her tail on her left side. its not big but it doesn't look like the rest of her tail and because im paranoid i thought i should ask you guys what you think it might be. i didn't know if their tail just kinda grows that way or if it might be something else. i was able to take some pictures, they aren't the best but hopefully you can see what i mean.

could be just a fatty lump, but i would keep an eye on it. if it starts to bleed or leak an fluids, i would get to a vet. might be nothing at all to worry about, but keep us updated.

Could be the beginnings of an abcess, which would bleed or leak fluid once it got to maximum pressure, it could be some defectin the tail rings, it could be a fatty deposit. Only time will really tell. It's a young animal so it will have lots of odd changes goingon from day to day... hopefully it rights itself with no ill effects. This would def. be one of those wait and see moments, see how/if it progresses any further than it has already. Times to worry with lumps is when you see drastic changes in shape, texture or size. Those are usually indicators of nothing good going on so if you see rapid noticeable growth, leaking (like Shawn said) it get's hard or hot, or you see a change in your animals attitude, appetite, or lethargy get to a vet asap.

Good luck, keep us posted.

thanks guys its good to know im not paranoid for nothing but also good to know that its nothing "yet" lol
i will let you all know how it turns out. i would like to get her a vet check anyways and make sure she is at tip top shape, mostly to have them check her stool for any unwanted "friends" lol so its time for me to start saving the money for it and get her checked before she really needs to be. thanks again! ^_^
