Loki has started to get a fat body, but his tail is still pretty small. When do their tails start getting fat?

Suppose that depends on their diet and how much you are feeding. I noticed my leo's tails started to bulge around 5/6 mths. They basically use their tails for fat storage, kinda like a reserve tank of fuel, so if they are consuming more food than they are using for energy purposes then the excess will be deposited in the tail.

babies and juveniles should be fed daily, or at least food offered daily. leos store fat reserves in their tails mainly for breeding purposes. i notice that my females will start eating a lot more late in the summer and early fall. this is their way of preparing to fast during ovulation and egg laying. i do have some females that continue to devour food during ovulation and egg laying though. those girls have some "junk in the trunk" Smile

It's a growing thing. The tail will remain smaller than the body while the leo is in the growing phase. When all the growing is done, or is slowing, the tail will begin to plump up as the fat is being stored and no longer being used for growing!

Haha, thanks for all the answers! I was starting to get worried because his tail is still as skinny as can be, but his body is getting pretty thick! I couldn't find anything online that talks about when his tail starts getting fat, but I do know leo's with skinny tails are usually not fed enough.
