New tank...skeptical..pic heavy
Alright, I just set up my 10g...the leo I'm getting is a juvie...I couldn't find any sub adults in both of the shops I went to...so will this do? It looks ...cramped... ><; Don't mind the temp on the probe I just plugged it in. Hot side on left, of course.
What do you guys think...? Am I missing something..? Should I make things smaller in that tank somehow? I don't know about upgrading to a 20g until it's an adult..I heard leos can stray from their food dishes?

looks great, can't see that you have missed anything but just make sure your rocks can't fall over and squash you new little friend

Yay! It's not too small?
If you look closely on the back wall...you'll see some clear tape holding a rock upright.

Awesome! Welcome to the wonderful world of leos!
Looks good but be careful of the slate tile pieces falling (ditto Sam). Leos like to climb up onto things and you dont want something falling on them. Can't see a small dish with pure calcium. Also, you might want to add another hide on the warm side, something that offers a dark hidey-hole cos leo's love to sleep where they feel safe. Loving your substrate! You cant go wrong with paper towel (easy to clean, no chance of impaction).
Can't wait to see pics of yr new baby in his enclosure!

Thanks! I was thinking I needed a calcium dish, but since I have Repashy Superfoods Leopard Gecko Calcium Plus, I heard that I didn't need one if I keep dusting his food..?
Also, I tried making the rocks in the corner kind of a hide...maybe it didn't work so well. I'll get another little coconut hut at the store instead and make a little stack of smaller stones.

You need a dish regardless of the type of dusting product just get a bottle cap and fill it up x

Okay then. I should get calcium dust without D3 then..? Or would it be alright to use the Repashy? I'm a little new to leaving a dish out for calcium so I don't want something to go wrong.

You have a perfect rectangular space across the front so maybe a log hide?

A small bottle cap with pure calcium (without D3) will be fine. Your leo will lick it if they feel they need more calcium.

That's actually a great idea! Thank you.

Well, I'll get some calcium without D3 just incase then.. if I can find any. Everything at the local petstores and the two reptile shops had D3 in almost everything but multivitamins.. The hunt is on!
EDIT:
I bought this hide thinking it was smaller than it actually was..I feel silly asking this but would this be acceptable?
EDIT EDIT: stone stacking?

That looks better and slate is heavy so it shouldn't go anywhere.
Back to the calcium issue...I was reading an older post regarding supplementation and Kel said you don't need an extra dish of calcium if using the all-in-one Repashy. So, just dust feeders at every feeding since your leo is still young and growing and you will be fine.

Wonderful. Still might look into a dish though...growing gecko and whatnot...
The tank doesn't look crowded though? Should I maybe get a smaller humid hide? I'm still a little nervous.

Re: New tank...skeptical..pic heavy
No need to be nervous. Your setup is good and you have done your research. The humid hide is quite large but it should do the trick. Leos like crawling into small places cos it makes them feel more secure. If you want to change it for something smaller then thats fine. Just watch the height and how your stone stacking works out.

Thank you for the fast response I think I will make it smaller, but try to maintain the same height. I do have more stones for stacking just in case.
On another note...thank you all for your wonderful advice, especially about sharp edges on the humid hide! I actually decided to use a lighter and smooth out the edge with heat!
EDIT:
On another note...would this setup be alright even when my leo becomes an adult? The reptile shop said it MIGHT be a male...but they aren't sure at this point.

Its driftwood and all our pet shops sell it here. It has a few nooks and crannies that Tarzan (my bell albino boy) likes to crawl up underneath and sleep.

Re: New tank...skeptical..pic heavy
Trust me, when I first put in this neat mosaic box my wife made I figured it would be too tall for them to climb. Boy was I wrong; if your leo's want to get on something, they'll do it!
On topic though, your setup is good. I always feel mine is cramped too, but I've not had a problem yet!

Re: New tank...skeptical..pic heavy
Especially with a baby if you get too big on them they get a little lost in it so this is perfect. I don't have much to add because everyone here has done a great job helping you with your viv. This is the kind of thread that I LOVE because it is not just a staff member that is able to help out. Thank you to all that have helped out on this thread I think you have all done a wonderful job. There will be an extra 5 LGF points added to all who are involved int his thread!!
Re: New tank...skeptical..pic heavy
I think it looks great!
I have a similar coconut hut, and my baby girl LOVES it. She's always in it, adores it. Climbs ontop of it too. :P
