55 gal tank
How many girls can you safely house in a 55 gallon tank?

Re: 55 gal tank
In a 55? I'd say at least four, safely. That's with hides for each of them, and at least two humid hides.
Re: 55 gal tank
I have 1 adult in a 55 gallon. I would never recommend more than 2 so that they can live comfortably with multiple hides in all temp gradients. Having more than 2 in a 55 gallon will almost always guarantee a future problem. They do best housed alone IMO. Having to share hides is not comfortable. I have seen too many injuries due to this and I am just trying to prevent from seeing more.
I know people who have came home to find one gecko with half a leg and they were not showing signs of aggression while the owner was home. On some occasions they ran into a stressed out one which failed to eat due to being bullied. Common problems that are very hard to listen to.

Re: 55 gal tank
I've been told by many breeders that girls do better with eachother as long as there's enough hides for them so that they can be alone when they want to be. I am houseing my 2 females in a 20 gal right now. I was just wondering cus my friend gave me a 55 gal and I will be putting the girls in there when they grow a little bit. Was just wondering, thanks guys!

Re: 55 gal tank
Just so you know only girls can be housed together and so the problem occured within females. Maybe the breeders are trying to make a sale? let me not be that harsh, but geckos all have their own personalities. It's a risk I personally don't feel it's worth taking and I am not a fan of any reptile living under absolute minimal conditions. The wild is huge, trust me I would like to have a zoo in my home if it was possible

Re: 55 gal tank
Personally, I have never had any issues with housing mulitple leopard geckos together. As long as they have the space and enough hides they get along fine. I have 2x 1male:2 female set ups and have very great success with it and many of the members here house their leopard geckos in groups with no issues.

Consider yourself lucky. Not that it will occur to everyone of course, it's just a risk. Some people find injuries and infections on their geckos an fail to realize it was due to fighting. After seeing wounds over and over you learn to recognize patterns. I can show you over a hundred of these questions. Some do well for the first few years then suddenly.

I house 1:1 gender ratio's in my tubs. I have Rubbermaid 41 quart clever store (3Q29) tubs that I house one male to one female. I have great success with them.
Re: 55 gal tank
Yeah, I agree that they do wonders when housed together. I have read that they are communative in the wild. Has anyone ever housed lots of males together? Howd that go? I feel like theyd only get aggresive toward eachother if there's a female involved.

Males are meant to be very territorial whether there are females or not. I have heard of little success of housing two males together x
