How many morio worms to feed?
Hi all, right so I bought some morio worms for anke and she loves them but I am just wondering how many too feed her at the moment she gets two every other day and one the days where anke does not have the morio worms she has about one or two small locusts. Is this too much or just right ??
Cheers guys

How old again is anke plz? I feed morios too but Eros is a full adult male and he eats between 2-4 every other day with nothing in between and is a healthy fattie (maybe a lil TOO fat )

That young, they should be eating as many as their interested in. A leo only ever over eats once in its life, and never wishes to repeat the experience.

Re: How many morio worms to feed?
Usually that may be how it works Kodie, all it usually takes is one good regurg for a leo to decide that they don't want to be gluttons again but unfortunately some never learn and will repeat the experience several times before the owner steps in and monitors feeding for them. The advice I was given by my breeder way back when was that after 7-8 months old they should be on every other day feedings of adult rations if growing has slowed down and they aren't a breeding female. Obviously this will be different for genetic giants but for your average leo they don't require the free range feeding habits that we give our under 6 months old leos. If you're feeding between 2-5 supers every other day and your leo is steadily gaining weight then you're good. If you're feeding like that and you notice a sudden increase in the size of their tail or they develop pouches behind their front legs then you need to slow down the feeding a bit. Eros usually stops himself after 2 or 3 bugs. It's the rare occasion where he actually will eat 4 and he hasn't eaten 5 since this past summer when he came out of brumation.

thanks kel for the info has been a great help, anke has never regurg but she wont eat when she has had enough, ive just looked behind her front legs and there are no pouches. her tail is pretty hefty though but it's built up gradually not suddenly

Then she sounds right on track james... just keep doin what you're doing. Since she knows when to stop all should be fine, just let her self regulate and offer till she walks away... that's what I do with Eros, altho I do geek out a bit when he's eaten number 4 and I'm like really I gotta offer another but thankfully he rarely ever takes 5. I don't think he's eaten 5 supers since he was a juvie.

IT looks like both of mine is a bottomless pit after I bred them both last year... They've never gotten really fat, but just keep eating those roaches...well not like until they puke, but they can eat quite a bit.
