Re: Cross Morph
Hi there, welcome to the forum
Your pairing Bell Albino x Normal Jungle would make;
Normals all het Bell Albino.
All the babies would have a varying pattern due to the jungle gene.
I hope thats helped.

Re: Cross Morph
BTW, if babies are het bell albino does that mean that their babies may show the albino traits? I know the genetics side is very complicated but I would still like to try and understand some of the subject.
I see that you have quite a few leos - do you have any photos of them?

Re: Cross Morph
The babies do have the potential to create bell ablino's yes, if bred to another carrier of the bell albino gene.
But the Bell Albino trait is what is called a Simple Recessive Gene, and when a trait is recessive, then it need two copies of the gene to show physically (be albino, in this case).
SO, Your current Bell Albino Male, carries two copies of the gene therefore making it a bell, BUT when mating with another gecko (which doesnt carry any bell albino genes) it only passes on one copy of the gene, meaning the babies DONT turn out as albino's. and therefore are het for Bell.
and so because the babies are now carrying one copy of the gene, they then have the potential to create bell albino's if they were to mate with another gecko either carrying one copy or two copies because some of the babies would come out with two copies meaning they are bell albinos.
So any female babies, can be grown up and then bred back to the daddy, which will create bells.
I hope that was helpful and i didnt over explain it haha.

Re: Cross Morph
Thanks for the explanation and no, I don't think you over explained it. I now understand perfectly what heterozygous means. Awesome!
And your children are gorgeous! I will be uploading pics of mine soon. On that subject...I am too wary taking a photo with the flash on - how should one take photos of their leos?

Re: Cross Morph
How to take photos of you leo should have it's own thread. It will be easier for other members looking for that to find it if it had it's own thread plus it will keep this thread on topic.
Re: Cross Morph
Will start a new thread. This is the first forum I have ever joined so I am still learning. Please be patient with me.

Re: Cross Morph
Noted
It might be an okay idea to familiarize yourself with the forum rules, to avoid anything major happening.
Though you seem friendly enough, i doubt there will be any rule breaks from you lol.

Re: Cross Morph
Guess for what, I live, eat & breathe leos so will prob not sleep much but instead ask you lots of questions! Sorry about that. Maybe last one for this thread...is it a good idea to breed babies back to parents?

Re: Cross Morph
you breed back to the parents if you want consistant type in your leos from my understanding on it. Jordan will be better able to explain line breeding leos to you than myself... if it were rabbits tho then I'd have all the answers
