Morph ID Please
She is eating real good now, by the way the picture on my profile is her; could anyone give me any info about her from the picture, I am really new to the leos, but I want to learn as much as I can so I can be a better caretaker. I hear about diffrent kinds of morphs and such. Besides being a leopard gecko was else is she? If someone asked me what kind of leo I had, what should I answer? is there a name for her type? is she a kind morph or perhaps something else? thank you for your help.

Re: Morph ID Please
I would say she is a SHTCTB.....lol.....that all stands for Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail Baldy. Basically the super hypo means she has ten or less spots on here body(tail not included)..tangerine(self explanetory).....Carrot tail (the bright orange on her tail base....baldy(not spots on her head). The picture is not the best to see all those details but if you were to post a top view of her, that could be confirmed.
Re: Morph ID Please
I would personally say it is just a Super Hypo.
I wouldn't say it was ornage enough to be classes as tangerine, and not enough orange on the tail to class as a carrot tail, and i can't tell from the pic properly but i think it does have spots on its head.
Super Hypo, means very little spotting on the body. Hypo being short for hypomelanistic.

Here is a top view, hard to show true coloration on it. Not very colorfull, but not bad for a first leo, maybe later I can invest in a more colorful one. This one was $30.00. I think she is cute anyway, love her eyes, they look like snake eyes.

Re: Morph ID Please
Well, my girl was looking a little grayish this morning, then I noticed that she was biting off skin. WOW she was shedding! these creatures are fascinating. Now you can see her colors better, in the privious picture she was more brown, now she is more yellowish brown. But the orange in her tail is more vivid, she also has some grayish purple in it. I love it. Do I need to do anything for her after the shedding?

Re: Morph ID Please
Yeah not a bad deal for 30 dollars.
Haha, great to hear it. There is nothing much to do for her, she should get through it on her own as long as you have a moist/humid hide in her enclosure.
If after a a day or two she still has some skin on the tip of her tail or toe's you might have to help her get it off. But we'll help you with that if its needed.

Re: Morph ID Please
Usually it is around once a month but I find if they are still growing that mine shed much more often. I have had some shed almost every week for a month because they were going through a little "growth spurt". Sorry I can't be mroe specific but they all seem to have their own little routine.
Re: Morph ID Please
Hey everyone, I am not an expert by any means but I think ugarte's leo is def a carrot-tail. I have read that there needs to be 15% orange in the tail to classify as a CT. I have a bell albino and jungle phase and would love to get a SHTCT but they are hard to find in South Africa!

Re: Morph ID Please
Different people have different agreements on what should class as a carrot tail or not to be honest.
Gosh never knew you were in South Africa, the forum really is an all round international then lol.
