Quarantine of multiple geckos from same breeder
I apologize in advance if this should be in general! (The idea of diseases from not quarantining is why I put this here) Anyway, I bought five leos recently from the same breeder, I know about quarantine, and have used this method in the past to ensure a new healthy reptile. Anyway, I was thinking about it and realized I wasn't sure if I could quarantine the five geckos together, in the same enclosure? As of now, they are separate, but it would be less work and hassle to have them in the same enclosure. What do you guys think? It would seem if they had any illness or disease, it would had already been passed to the other geckos, so it would seem they could be quarantined together. But maybe I'm totally off base.

Re: Quarantine of multiple geckos from same breeder
Most breeders keep their geckos in rack systems, often in individual bins. So it's not too far fetched to think they could have parasite/disease in one gecko and not the rest. There are breeders that do keep multiple geckos in the same bin, those yes if one gets something, the rest would get them. But to be on the safe side, I would recommend separating them even if it's from the same breeder.
You could keep them in the same enclosure if you got proper dividers setup. Some people use that method as a form of quarantine. Then after 60 days or so, they simply remove the dividers.

Yeah, the divider system was one I was thinking of as well. Thanks for the advice

Re: Quarantine of multiple geckos from same breeder
Aside of the reasons that mardy mentioned for quarantine, it also gives you the opportunity to learn each leos particular habit such as how much each eats, who's pooing, who's not, if someone regurgitates in a group enclosure you have no idea who it came from etc. Getting 5 leos at 1 time is quite an undertaking and you certainly can't put multiple males in the same viv, they'd kill eachother. I hate to sound negative but if you wanted less hassle and less work then maybe you should have started out with less leos. Trying to do things with a minimalist mentality sacrafices the quality of care your leos desirve and need to thrive. With that said you might want to consider a rack system as housing in the future since you would need at least a 55 gallon tank to properly divide into a proper habitat for 5 leos.

Like I said, they are in separate enclosures already. So while one enclosure would be less of a hassle, doesn't mean I'm not prepared to take care of them all either. Thanks for the concern though..
