How to use the "Go To First/Newest Post" Option

All forums have a different set up and many of us have gotten use to seeing a symbol similar to this when wanting to see the first unread/newest post on a thread we're subscribed to


Our forum DOES offer a "go to first unread/newest post option, it's just a lot less obvious Our icon looks like this


The yellow Lets you know that there are new posts to that thread, and by clicking the will take you to the first unread/newest post.

So if you're looking in your user control panel at subscribed threads you would see an icon that looks like this simply click on the little "torn looking" orange piece of paper to go to the first unread/newest post.

If it is not a thread you are subscribed to but have been following with out saving that thread in your user control panel, using this function would take you to the newest post in that thread.

If you go into one of the sub-forums and see a list of threads like this
clicking on the icon will take you to the newest post in that thread, HOWEVER if you click on a particular thread, then want to get to the first unread/newest post you will have to scroll all the way thru the thread as the will be gone.

Hey Kel, that's great, it will really help.
I may sometime in the future change the little paper piece to something more obvious though but we'll see.

Also if you don't mind, i will edit the thread to contain the actual icons i used for the threads and forums etc (the orange ones) and use them in this post rather than screen shots, to make them clearer. Or i can send you the URL's if you'd prefer.
(wont be until later as im about to go to work now)

nah your right it's fine, the photo's were coming up a bit fuzzy on mine but its got itself sorted and they look just normal to be honest. lol.

that torn looking icon is default for phpbb forums so anyone used to it will immedietely recognise it

I've used several of those types of forums and never knew that was what it was for

that icon always takes me to the last unread, not the newest.
Its odd how it doesn't work for you

Last unread... newest... same difference really... if it's not a thread I have bookmarked it takes me to the last unread post as well. It does it's job.

haha glad to hear it then / < couldn't decide which smiley to use so i'll let you decide lol.
