New baby leo - strange behaviour
Basically, 2 days ago I got a new baby leopard gecko who is 3 months old. He/she seems to be settling into their new home fine, however, the vivarium is on my desk and I often let my other leo who is an adult walk around my desk. What I found strange was that as soon as Floyd (my adult gecko) walked next to the new geckos vivarium, the new gecko would run up to him and try to strike him, obviously ending up in hitting the side of the vivarium face first. Could this just be the new gecko getting a little territorial or does anyone have any other explanations? Floyd doesn't even seem to notice the new gecko when it does this as well.

Re: New baby leo - strange behaviour
Floyd is scaring the crap outta the new lil dude. That's defensive behavior. Floyd not reacting solidifies it imo. Lil dude is disturbed by FLoyd's presence enough to go straigh into attack mode... he feels threatened... he hasn't been in the new viv long enough to be feeling territorial. I wouldn't let Floyd bother him. Put some type of barrier up next to the lil guy's viv when you have Floyd out so they can't see eachother,. He'll still be able to smell him but he needs the visual to want to strike. Lil dude could hurt himself bashing his face onto the glass like that.
Hope that helps

Ok that explains a lot. Thanks for the help, I'll block off that area of the desk from now on.

yeah... we like to keep the lil dudes kinda calm... don't need a dropped tail or a broken face straight away.
