Need some great Iguana information
So my local pet store sells tropical fish and reptiles BUT they are selling all of their reptiles and going all fish because reptiles just aren't too popular around my area anymore and they have a hard time selling them.
They have a 2.5 year old Red iguana. She said she would sell her to me for $125. She/he is friendly. I held it and it started falling asleep as I was rubbing its head and neck.
I have wanted a red iguana for a long time I briefly did some research about a year or 2 ago. Some websites said that they are their own breed while others said that they are actually a green iguana that is bred strictly for its red coloring and because of that they only live about 12 years?
I read about the habitat and the feeding but I was wondering if any of you have experience with these lovely creatures or if you have a reliable website I can go to for proper care and just overall knowledge of what I would be getting myself into :P
Thanks
BTW this iguana looks healthy and didn't appear to have any deformities or MBD, another customer traded her in for a fish tank which does sound kind of shady as you never know what kind of treatment she had but as far as I can tell she looks good and I feel that I can give her a great home and I already have a huge cage outside that would be great for her in the summer

Re: Need some great Iguana information
This looked like a pretty good site for iguana info
http://www.iguanaden.org/main.htm
http://iguanafacts.net/red-iguana-facts/
http://johnsimmons.articlealley.com/more-information-about-the-red-iguanas-750242.html
This one seemed really complete with a lot of sub articles
http://iguana.wo50.com/iguana_facts.php
Hope some of that helps...
