R.I.P. Misfit

Misfit passed away this week. He was fourteen months old. My first gecko, gone...

I'm getting a tattoo for him this weekend. He will never be forgotten.

Misfit, I'm so sorry that I couldn't help you. I'm so sorry that your life was cut short. I love you.

I am so sorry for your loss It always hurts to lose a loved companion.

We knew it was going to happen soon. I just wasn't expecting it to happen that quickly. He was amazing, though.

He had a terrible oral cavity infection. We didn't find out about it until it was too late to really do anything. We could have done surgery, but it was very expensive and survival rate was very low. We gave him medicine until it ran out. He practically starved to death because it hurt him to eat. I feel like a terrible parent.

Yeah... don't feel like a terrible parent... these animals are designed to hide thier weaknesses... it's all part of being a prey species (something that larger animals eat) they hide their illnesses really well. I'm sure you did all you could as soon as you could... sometimes these things just happen... it isn't fair butit happens. Hopefully this doesn't put you off leos and you may consider another one in the future after you're done mourning for misfit. *hugs*

I'd love to have another leo. They're absolutely gorgeous. But I need to get it from a breeder, not a pet store. Misfit was just so helpless, I had to take him.
