Hey guys! Did you miss me? :P
Haha just thought I'd post an update on Nyx Smile
While I was initially scared to purchase from PetSmart, I was actually happy with the results Smile
S/he eats fine, poops everyday, and s/he just shed which went beautifully! S/he's a lot brighter now :3
S/he's such a neat little thing to watch!
I haven't tried to hold him/her yet... I'l pet him/her a bit, and rest my hand in the aquarium, s/he'll climb on it, it being my hand, and strech up a bit when I'm petting him/her, so I'm glad s/he's not afraid of me! But if I attempt to move my hand he'll scurry off so I know he isn't ready to be full on held yet. I really love Nyx <3
I think me and my dad are going to make a project out of building him a bigger terrarium, even though the one s/he has now, 10 gallon, I don't think he'd be comfotable when he gets bigger
Well see ya! Smile
Oh! Since he shed it looks like there's a bit stuck on his toes... But I can't really tell... How do I go about removing it?

that is great to hear!!!

im not a pro but i was reading everything you can about leopard geckos and have some great friends they breeding them for years!

take a bin put papertowl in it and make the papertowl wet, let nyx sit there for 20 to 30 min and see if it softens up! than try to carefuly remove the skin! if you do not get the skin off it can couse the gecko to lose its fingers!

make sure you have a sheding box in the cage for nyx!

hope i could help you

After letting Nyx sit on the paper towels as Kira said, a wet cotton swab works well to roll the skin off. It may take more than one soaking to completely loosen up the skin. Be patient as trying to remove the skin before it's ready can result in damage / loss of toes.
Wonderful to hear Nyx is warming to you so quickly! Smile

Wow that's great Smile thanks for the update Very Happy I'm glad Nyx is doing so well. Keep up the good work! I just give my geckos a little bath when they have stuck shed skin, for about 15 mins-30 mins and then afterwards it's all loose and i just a cotton bud ( Q-tip in the US haha ) and gently push it off. Sounds like you and nyx are doing great. I love the idea of you and your dad building a bigger viv for nyx. Just keep in mind that when they're that young a big viv can be rather scary so I'd either wait until nyx is about 5-6 months old to putting a bigger viv or provide MANY hides if you do it sooner so nyx doesn't feel exposed and scared.

No worries we're going to build it when he's an adult ^_^
He's been a bit jumpy lately? Is there any reason for this?
Thanks for the removal advice Smile

It's likely a touch of spring feaver coupled with a stage of social development... just phases they go thru. Just be consistant with him as you have always been and he should work thru it just fine.

That's good, glad he's back to himself but don't be surprised if he does this off and on until the end of the summer.
