Smile everyone loves missy.. but she is evil Very Happy she scratches when you try to get her out.. she won't sit down to be cuddled.. and she sometimes bites me when she doesn't want to go back to her hutch after a day in the run Very Happy ... she always looks the best in photos though.

My favourite female is moomin.. I choose to claim her as mine when we got them Very Happy

Can't believe missy and moomin are from the same litter! they look SO different Very Happy

Thankyouuu everyone!

Very Happy I love genetics.. I think they are amazing. I'm really excited to see what colour my bunnies babies are.

Malakai had a dad that was the same colour as him but with a huge long mane.. and his mom was the standard 'orange/ginger' lionhead colour. All his brothers and sisters were the same colour as the mom, except him. So far when breeding with an albino rex, all his offspring have been jacob's colour, 'chinchilla' is it? or almost black grey.

Moomin is black with brown tips of her hairs.. missy is all white with grey patches.. i never saw their parents..

But I wonder what colours will appear in their babies.. I hope some orange coloured ones come through Very Happy

I went out to check and feed everyone at about 9:45 and there was nothing in her bed section.. not even a nest.. and then my mom noticed a big nest of black fur at 1:30 ish and i checked and the fur is moving XD sooo woooo!

Yay!!!! Unfortunately tho you're gonna have to check the nest for dead ones. She didn't use the nest box so it might be a little more difficult. Just open the fur, the inside will be hollow and open where the babies are. Just peel some of the fur back and feel around in the nest for ones that feel cold (which they may not being under heir liv e siblings) or flat feeing or that doesn't move. If there's any dead in the box mom won't usually tend to them and rabbits don't carry or pick up their babies so she won't take it out but she could kill the whole litter trying to kick it out. Make sure momma has plenty of hay and water, she's gonna need it. Too much food at this point will just make her fat and poo more... pellett intake should only increase by 1/4 until she weans the babies at about 4 weeks old.

Smile

yeah.. i know.. i've decided to have a look tomorrow morning.. I just want to leave her now because it's her first day.. plus i'm abit worried that she won't look after them if she smells my scent in her nest straight away. if i touch the babies, are you sure she won't attack or abandon them or anything? I'm so worried about that.

I'm really really excited to see what colours they will be. when can I take a photo of them in the nest?

Yeah I've put loads of hay in there Very Happy it's was my way of distracting her while i peeped in the bed section :P I was soo shocked that she had them today because i've heard that rabbits make their nest on the night and usually have them at night.. but there was no nest when i looked this morning and she gave birth during the day and pulled her fur out there and then Very Happy

Rabbits will birth at ll times of the day. Sounds to me like labour came on fast for her. My alice was like that. Ate her nest box 3 times till I finally took it away and gave it the day she was due. She had her nest built and babies delivered in 2 hours her first litter. If you pet momma first then the nest box they'll be fine. Rabbits aren't as bad as dogs and cats with tolerating foreign scent. Thy actually kinda like it aas it deterrs predators from the nest. I would check straight away for dead ones as rabbits usually only feed babies twice a day. At this age those feedings are crucial. She needs to get use to you in there. Just bring her a treat like dried papaya which will also help with any hairballs she might get frm all he hair pulling and nest building.
