Is $70 a reasonable price for a 20 gallon long tank? I can't seem to find anything cheaper than that online. I know people have suggested going to yard sales and such to find tanks but no one is doing them yet.

Petco has a $1 a gallon sale on fish tanks actually Very Happy It's pretty cheap...Are you looking at specific types of 20 gallon long tanks, like a vision cage?

$70 sounds too pricey to me for a regular tank and a little too low for a vision... does it come with stuff inside? Are you looking at brand specific stuff (Zilla, Exo-Terra, etc. names = more $ spent on the tank Razz )

Just the tank. The Under Tank Heater I can get for $20, need a $30 thermostat, a thing of reptile carpet that will probably run me $10. Might have to actually use another UTH for the cooler side, which means I would have to get a another thermostat unless I use my lamp dimmer with that UTH heater.

Total a new setup will run me $150 with still using the same dish and stuff like that. I think the tank is a little expensive is though.

I was looking on Amazon but yes, it is a zilla tank. I'll go look on petco now because apparently amazon is no good for certain things.

Also I wanted to be a 20 gallon long, if not longer if not bigger than that if I have the money for it. Technically I have no money as of this moment but will, not too long from now.

+1, look for Petco's $1 per gallon sales, they have it quite often. It's the best time to buy 20 gallon longs. $70 sounds like regular retail price of 20 gallon long tanks with mesh top setup. Even for those you can catch them on sale for $59 often.

But yeah the $1 per gallon sales are the best, $20 for the 20 gallon long, $15 for the mesh top you can buy separately. Comes out a lot cheaper than buying a kit or buying retail price on a 20 gallon.

Can I get links to this sale or is it like a in-store thing?

If it will cost u 150$ its expensive o.o I live in canada and if u will compare the price here to there canadian price should be more expensive. 20 Gallon cost 50$ +tax UTH(24+ tax) and thermostat around 10-20ish + tax. Try looking somewhere else like a local petstore. I usually check local pet stores for tank only and the materials are from a real pet store.

The pet stores around here will charge me $60 for ONE UTH. I don't mess with them unless it's for calcium.

And by thermostat, I don't mean something to check temps, I mean the thing that keeps the UTH at an exact temperature. If I could find a thermostat that cheap, that would be great.

It's just a local pet store. There are only two close to me and they are both like that.

When they have the sale, you can only get it in local stores. The $1 per gallon sales can't be ordered from their website. You can go to the local ad section on petco.com and see if the $1 per gallon sale is going on.

Well I just had a big smack in the face. Since I haven't lived here very long I didn't know that the nearest petco is over a hour away.

How much can a few sheets of glass and silicon be? I was looking at screen cages but I wasn't sure if that would be good or not.

I just remembered that we have a 50 gallon that's not being used and I would need to clean it.

I'd definitely recommend going to a reptile expo. If you go online there's schedule's for ones near you. I know in NY one is coming up next month I'll be going to. Always great deals, I got my leopard geckos 10g wide, which is a good amount bigger than a reg 10 for only $10! Look around and you'll definitely find good deals. I'd also check out craigslist or local newspapers (maybe even ebay)! :] I even just got a 20g long that was listed for $74.99 at petco randomly on sale brand new for only $7! Look around a lot and you'll find something eventually.

This was just a random tank on sale. The only regular one's are the $1 per gallon ones, which is how I got my originally $119 tank for $40 for my skink. They aren't online and nobody ships tanks really. I'd say go to an expo for a good deal or wait until they have this sale again, but it was only a few months ago that they had their last one.
