Hi all, just a quick question. How often on avarage so gecko shed there skin? Do Gecko's that shed more often or less often mean anything? Or is it just different from gecko to gecko?

It's really dependent on the gecko. A gecko who sheds more is growing more, where out or up, fatter or tallerc when they shed they've grown! So, there isn't a really predictor for shedding, they just do it. Smile

Thought that may be the case. She shed last on feb 16th, and then she shed again last night. So only a few weeks. I'll have to post some pics and try to get a rough age on her

When my leo was between 3-6 months old he was sheddng like every 2 weeeks, then he slowed down once he was getting into the 7-12 month range. After a year he would shd every 3-5 weeks depending on whether or not he brumated. Now that he's over 2 he sheds much less, maybe every 4-5 weeks or so. A lot also depends on their nutrtion. A leo that has good nutrition may tend to shed a bit more often than one that is inproperly supplimented.

Hmmm interesting, my Leo is meant to be 2-3 years old but has shed for the second time 2 weeks exactly from the last shed, he's pretty big already if he gets bigger he'll be a border line giant. Smile

My boy Eros is adult also and sometimes has sheds close together. Remember tho shrinking or growing will prompt them to shed as well as just the age of the current layer of skin on the outside, their nutrition, season, etc.... They don't always necessarily need to "grow" bigger to shed.

Unless your guy was 80 grams by his first birthday, then he's just a little chubby at this point. Smile

There is no such thing as a borderline giant... giant is a genetic trait... they either are a giant or super giant or they aren't. Anything that doesn't have the genetic trait for a giant or super giant is just an oversized regular leopard gecko.

My female is about 8 months right now and she usually sheds every 2-3 weeks but she really hasn't gained or lost weight for a little while due to her little hunger strike she decided to go through so I don't thin the shedding depends entirely upon whether or not they've grown. Smile
