I thin Delilah is blind...
It may just be in one eye but I put a waxworm for her weekly treat and she is trying to get it but always about 5mm away from it... It's hard to explain but it's like she knows where it was but not where it actually is... Can I test her eyesight somehow? I get a feeling this is why she won't go for crickets...

Trial and Error. I have one that I am pretty sure he is blind because he misses his food ALL the time and must be hand fed. If I keep it still in front of him he can catch it, as long as it doesn't crawl away on him. Also, if I move his tank around he spends a lot of time testing things. Much more than any of my others. I try not to move his tank around at all now and he gets on quite well.

Ok so I've established it's only the left eye she notices me when I go to the right of we but there is no reaction when I move to the left. Poor little one, would explain her clumsiness too I guess.

Yes, it does, I thought poor Blaze was just a little, well, on the simple side. Until I discovered that he seems to be blind in both eyes. Now, I can't really prove that but logic dictates that is what is wrong with him. If I am attentive to his needs he is just fine.

Well she always has a bowl of gut loaded mealies and she knows exactly where that is so there's no chance of her going hungry, I'll just keep an eye on her. Thank god it's only one eye!

Yeah... blindness in one eye will definitely affect depth perception and cause mis strikes... best you can do is like Jolene suggested and just cater to their specific needs. Good luck.
Re: I thin Delilah is blind...
Has she been examined by a vet? There are several reasons for example, Vitamin A Deficiency, Infections, Imbalanced diet. It can help save her other eye if these problems are corrected if indeed it's caused by one of these problems.

Re: I thin Delilah is blind...
If it is a vit deficiency they ciould give her a shot to help but I'm not entirely sure it's reversable. You can also gutload your bugs with foods high in vit A like sweet potatoe, carrots, dark leafy greens (Kale, turnip greens, mustard greens, collards, not spinach tho as it has a chemicalthat binds to calcium making it impossible to absorb), butternut squash, dried apricot, dried herbs, & cantaloupe. Those are the top 10 highest vit. A foods http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/food-sources-of-vitamin-A.php So that's a good start. Hope it helps. Let us know how the vet appt goes.
Re: I thin Delilah is blind...
thanks guys, all the food gets gutloaded with carrots and a salad mix with some potato but will get some squash on the way home and some other bits. My vet is calling me back because the herp vet has flu so hopefully she is back in on monday

Re: I thin Delilah is blind...
Hi,
I just wanted to mention a few things. Make sure you take the bottle of supplements with you and discuss it with the vet. There has been a lot of tragedies with supplements and a lot of veterinarians are not pleased with all in one products especially at every feeding. Too much calcium can bind Vit A. Most vets recommend the use of MVI only once a week. Even a reptile who is not being kept warm enough will not be successful in absorbing nutrients.
Mealworms are very unbalanced and don't gutload well. If you don't already, make sure to rotate insects which will decrease the need to dust so often. Hypervitminosis D gets misdiagnosed as Enigma Syndrome. One of the signs seen is stricking and missing prey. It's best to gutload insects and rotate prey items to supply a healthy diet instead of risking the chance of oversupplementing which can lead to so many conditions including renal disease and primary hyperparathyroidism.

Hope all goes well:)

Re: I thin Delilah is blind...
Thank you that's really helpful, I do try to rotate her feeders but it's hard to get roaches unless I order them online! I'll take my supplements with me or make a note!
Thanks guys, you've really helped. I'll get her looked at ASAP, luckily the vet knows her as she wormed her a few months ago for me, plus gives me the perfect excuse to take tango along and get her checked over in the same appointment (and one consultation price...)! And let you know.

P.s. Oh and also I only have maybe 1:4 nutrobol to calcium when I dust things if that helps!

Are you using the nutrobal at every feeding? According to Vetark you are not suppose to use at each feeding, instead alternate with Calci-dust.
