Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
I dont have calcium sand in anymore. I only bought it because i was worried about her eating things in the tank and getting sick, on the packaging it did state that it is better than anything because it has calcium in it therefore if she ate it she would only benefit from it. She doesnt eat anything other than her food anyway but i only have wood chippings in now. The wood chippings seem too big for her to even get in her mouth, she refuses to eat locusts if they look a little out of her comfort zone with the size so i dont worry about her getting impaction. I am going to get some slate tiles and things because i am a bit obsessive of how the tank looks too, i like to buy things that are cute and look neat so some nice tiling would be nice.
What is UTH and basking? I like to makesure they are warm, i actually dont think the heat mat i have works as well as it should so i want to have another heat source just to makesure. I WILL buy a new heat mat and a new bulb and a thermometer and a new humidity measurer, which bulb would you recommend? You should probably reply to my questions on my introduction thread so this thread doesn't get spammed with discussion.
Ohhh, they have a moist hyde on one side, a hollow cave on the opposite side and a coconut next to the moist hyde where they poo. The heat mat and the bulb are both in the middle of the tank. I need to get more hydes.
And thankyou, that was my idea ^_^

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
These are all nice set ups! i would post pics of mine, but it has alot of false ferns in it and looks "crowded" but there only for dampering light. thin plants not the thick ones, i seperate each "leafe" and hang or set them in places to darken the tank more from the lamp and my room lighting.

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
nice set up its looking great ^_^ she probably inst used to it but i'm sure she will get the hang of it, maybe she likes the feeling of the smoothness on her belly? lol i am just trying to be positive haha
Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
Is the tile glazed?
If its glazed it may be too smooth for her to walk on, unglazed is best.

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
ya I want to say it is glazed. I want to get her something rougher... She is still not real happy with me over this change. She will walk on it now but she is slow and really skittish.

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
If you have sand as a substrate I would get rid of it as leo's can accidently ingest it and cause impactation which can result in death, also I can see a dial thermometer on the back of the tank i would get a digital probe thermometer as the dial ones measure the air temp not the floor temp. do you have an under tank heater as leo's need one to properly digest their food. also does she have a calcium dish ?

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
NOPE, today i might go return the dial therm. and get a floor therm. as well as figure out what ground heating would be the best.
I was thinking of getting a heat cord and reccess it into the foam ive constructed and then layer the calcium sand over it.
i might take out the tree that is in there and make some kind of hidding cave for the top level.
i heard crickets can carry disease so i brought meal worms, is that enough calcium? i made a feeder dish that i put the meal worms in.

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
if the sand substrate is dangerous, maybe i can just use the foam only. it should absorb some of the heat , but i would have to make sure the heat cable is deep enough in the foam so overheating doesnt occur.
is that a logical idea? haha

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
First off, welcome to the forum. The recommended substrate is generally paper towel or tiling (unglazed ceramic, slate, peel-n-stick etc). Members have made awesome tanks using foam and grout though.
Sand is definitely dangerous, so I would get rid of it ASAP.
Only 1/3rd of the tank floor needs to be heated (the hot side). So either a UTH (under tank heater) or heat cable/wire is best.
You need to dust your feeders with a multivitamin with vitamin D3, and calcium. Mealworms don't have enough calcium.

Leopard Gecko custom foam cage 10 Gallon
Originally the front of the cage, now i have foam cut out into a mini tunnel system w/ 3 entrances and a "balcony" made from red sweat pants material.
This is the Back of the cage, there is a removable Moist box on the bottom level that is sitting on paper towels and an Under tank heating mat. there is also a tunnel in the bottom level which is more visible from the other angles
U can kinds see "Sensi Star" sitting under neath in the little tunnel
This is the side view looking directly into the lower cave
I still have a small cage but i have pimped it out

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
Lets try to remember guys to keep discussion on this thread about the enclosures. I love reading how well everyones leos are doing but I'd hate to have to go thru and delete all the off topic posts (that would be quite an undertaking). You can always send members a private message if you'd like to comment beyond their set ups. Thanks for understanding
Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
I havent got a nice moist hide like what i've seen here, so i just bought a humidifier and have is on a timer. I have coconut husk and vermiculite in mine.
The floor is the grippy stuff you get to stop your carpets from crawling.

This monster home is 36in W x 24in D x 33in H with a sunken livingroom, both the hotside and the livingroom are heated with flexwatt.

Re: Show Off Your Set Ups...
some shots of my gecko room
one of my cave gecko set ups
I will have to take some of the insides of the tubs so you can see that as well. I also have some exo-tera cages that I can take some pics of as well.
