My Rabbit Show Weekend...

... Was CRAZY. Friday I started doing pedigrees for the babies I was bringing to the trade auction on Saturday. I got 1 printed then my printer died... aaaah... I had to upload all the pedigrees to my skydrive and show them to buyers on my phone (gotta love android ) then email them directly as they bought the animal... ugh... So only 4 people showed up for the trade auction on Saturday. I felt bad for the club founder and his wife who went to so much trouble setting everything up. Needless to say I didn't unload anything on saturday. One benefit tho is that a lady who is one of thee top netherland judges in Maryland, and also very good friends with our club founder, drove the FIVE hours to be there for our show and I got to meet her and pick her brain about all things netherland that wasy VERY cool. I didn't get home until almost 10 that night, the show started at 5.

So now the show... was sunday morning, was suppose to start at 9:30 but we were almost an hour late starting which sucked because I was suppose to be going from teh show directly to my husband's company picnic at our local theme park, Waldameer, to meet hubby, the kids and my brother... NOT a good start. It ended up being worth the wait as we had 54 entried in the netherland show and over 30 for the dutch show. Things got a little cramped as everything was set up in a 2 car garage but we had big tents outside for everyone to stowe their rabbits under. Thankfully it ws a gorgous day.

I brought 4 rabbits to show, and 9 to sell. I ended up selling that orange baby you like so much sarah and her chestnut brother to a good friend of mine, I finally sold my witch of a himi to another breeder for a rediculously low price, but I'm happy to be rid of her, I'm tired of getting bitten and lunged at every time I feed her So didn't ge rid of as many as I would have liked but our local pet shop is going to take the rest of the babies plus a few more friends wanted to unload that didn't sell as well so... at least we stand to make a little money

Now onto the show... I entered my nationals winner Igor, who developed a dew lap in her time off which is a disqualification for netherlands AAHHHHHH... thank god it was a fun show and there were no DQ's. I entered her sister Inga, their half brother Prince Von A, and a little junion broken chinchilla buck, Sammy jr. Igor didn't even place because of her dew lap Inga got Best of Variety (BOV) with Prince getting best opposite sex for variety (BOSV) YAY... just too bad there wern't enough breeders or rabbits entered for them to earn legs (you need 5 or more rabbits between 3 or more breeders to earn a leg) Then little Sammy jr... He didn't get great comments, he failed on a couple points (like he was low in the shoulder and failed over the hind quarter) but he was entered as a junior so they're a little more forgiving since their still babies (sammy will be 4 months old on July 7), Well even dispite the failures he still won Best of Variety (BOV) YAY... Granted there were only a few in his variety but still he won We didn't win the group so we couldn't go on for best in show but I'm happy with how we did. I'm going consistantly Upwards at least

Top off my streak of bad luck (or should I say clamaties), I got a video of the judge judging sammy jr. I was so excited to post it up for you guys... I went to upload it and my phone ate it...AAAAAHHHH... WTF!!! So no videos AND no pix altho I do have the Winners photo I can post after I upload them.

Yeah I sold her sarah. She really didn't fit into my program. All I could have bred with her would be black otters and chestnuts (neither of which do I work with) but my friend steph focuses on those so she was a big plus for her. Don't worry I can make more. I still have her parents

Sorry you had such issues on your weekend but I am glad that in the same token you had some good times on your weekend. I was thinking about you while I was out shopping and hoping that you were having a good time. Some day we will have to meet in New York or something. It would be about 8 hours or so for me to drive all the way to PA but then again I have never been farther south then NY. Hmmmmm, maybe some day I will darken your door step

Niagra falls new york that is 2 hours at most.

Well, that makes it about 6 hours from me or so.....

Well worth it, I'd say.
