I need info on tortoise care :)

Hey everyone

My neighbour has just gotten a tortoise so I need to your help I need any info you can give me on their general care, feeding and another other areas of their husbandry, as soon as possible so we can give the little tortoise all the care it needs

I'm going to research on google now.. but I would prefer to hear the info from someone who has cared for tortoises in the past and knows their stuff

Hi Sarah what breed is it do you know as in russian or mediterranean? if you're not sure how many toes on each foot has it got, as they have different needs, is it a baby or adult?.

The first thing to do is give it a luke warm bath to make sure it is hydrated, I pop mine is the kitchen sink but just have the water up to where the top shell meets the bottom shell as they take in water through both ends Tuppence normally stays in the bath for about 10 minutes per day, they usually have a wee while they are in the bath as well. You also need to dust it's food with calci dust and tortoise vitamins.

They need a heat and UV lamp.

There is a brilliant site in the uk called THE TORTOISE TABLE it is a brilliant forum and they will be able to identify which one it is and give you all the advice you could ever need, they also have a comprehensive diet section.

I hope this gives you somewhere to start from.

it's a red-toed tortoise and it's around 4 years old I think
