Mediterranean Gecko Care? Empty Mediterranean Gecko Care?

Post by Kouneli Mon Nov 28, 2011 4:52 pm

So I just got a Mediterranean Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) along with the two leopard geckos that my fiance and I rescued. I was told that he/she was wild-caught, but they have no idea how long it has been in captivity. So, wondering what the care is on this little guy. He is currently feeding on small crickets that's a bit too large for him. He refused the fruit flies and bean beetles (from reptile store) that I provided, so crickets it is lol.

Any info on care, otherwise?

Thank you very much. I kept seeing other care sheets that did not mention humidity whatsoever. I especially like the 2nd link's caresheet.

Mediterranean Gecko Care? Empty Re: Mediterranean Gecko Care?

I fed my med gecko, that came up in an oil meter from huston on pinhead crickets. Shed go thru about a dozen every 2-3 weeks. We'd just put a bunch in there and they'd disappear over time. She wasn't handeable, beng wild as she was, and we misted her viv every couple days with mulch substrat and lots of high branches and bark rounds for her to hide up high. Set up should be similar to terrestrial species, we used a red bulb for heat,75 watt on a 20 long tank to provide a gradient, plus a litterbox filled with sand which she took to straight away. I suggest a sand box in case she is wild caght she could be gravid and u want a place for her to lay if she needs. Med gekocs are VERY hardy and forgiving of husbandry errors. I know my local petshop keeps some free range to clean up escape crix. Amdromeda escaped her viv and is now somewhere in my house roaming the second floor.
