Signs of brumation.
Hi all,
sorry to be a pain but can someone please tell me the signs of brumation and do reptiles automatically attempt to brumate regardless of the captive conditions, the reason I ask is that little Tripod shed last Sunday but refused food for the 2 days before and hasn't shown very much interest in food since, I did manage to tempt her last night but only after I had given her a waxworm as a starter, s/he also seems to be hiding away more than usual. I did change the carpet for slate in the viv at the weekend as well so maybe that has unsettled the little one as well.

Re: Signs of brumation.
I responded to your other post
I've noticed with my leos (I have a few going into brumation), that they eat less. Normally they (Rosie and Nina) eat about 15 mealworms everyday. Now they are eating about 10 every few days. They also seem to be less active, I don't hear them running around as much in the evenings. They prefer sleeping on their hot side more, and they are usually hiding.
Its normal though, so nothing to be worried about. Just keep offering food, and they'll take it when they want it.
