That's awful Sam, so sorry to hear that your cresties are not doing well. I don't know anything about cresteds but hope that someone can help you out. If and when you do find out what was causing the illness and what its called, please post about it cos I want to get a pair and need to know what could go wrong with them.

Oh my gosh..I'm really sorry to hear that your cresties aren't doing well..that's horrible.
I started digging around too...I'm sure you already know these things.
Toe curling and sunken eyes seems to be dehydration (that's what a lot of people agreed on during my forum hopping and book hopping).

As for the trembling/twitching, I read a few things....some say it's an early sign of MBD. Others say that the ambient humidity or temperature is a little off...another says calcium sacks in the mouth. If it is the sacs, it would make sense about all of the other symptoms...I don't hope that this is it (but I do at the same time!), but it would give you an answer. I think the sacs are bad if they're too big or non-existent...not sure since they're supposed to be there. But a lot of people are saying it's some sort of calcium deficiency (or D3) for twitching, shaking, and trembling. They can also get the signs if they're over supplemented with calcium or D3.

No idea about the struggling to shed bit...probably because your crestie feels ickie?

Thanks Kathryn
Thanks for the Info you dug up Cerra, didn't know the toe curling and sunken eyes were signs of dehydration but that would make sense as to why they would struggle to shed, will call my vet in the morning and see if he'd thought of that. i'll try giving dave a bath tomorrow if he'll let me near him as he's been really nasty & bitty since he became ill

Hi Sam
I have done a bunch of research over the last hour and all things that I find go with what Cerra has said. MBD and Dehydration. I really hope that you can try to get some water into this little one and see if that helps I am so so sorry to hear this

Thanks Jolene x
if i spray him he'll drink off his own face and for the first time in a week he's eaten without me feeding him by hand and for the first time in a week he's started climbing again so fingers crossed he'll make it
