Jag ate rather well last night, with no regurgitation. I left a small capfull of slurry by his hide and that was gone by morning.

I'm taking him in for a follow-up at the vet on Monday, so I will keep you guys updated.

I took Jag in for his follow-up this afternoon, and the results were not great, but reasurring.
Due to Jag's clean stool sample, and the fact that he is still not gaining weight my vet began to suspect kidney/liver issues. However, because of his dehydration and extremely thin state, she believes that he is chronicly infected with a parasite from a family of parasites that is not detected unless blood work is taken, which Jag is too thin to have done. So, she has given me an antibiotic that works to kill every parasite in this family, and I'm to bring him back in two weeks.

At the vet, Jag was also injected with fluids directly into his stomach to help with his dehydration. He has since perked up a bit.

I've also setup his tank with paper towels to provide a cleaner enviornment for him.
Unfortuanatly, liver/kidney issues aren't completely ruled out, but I'm hoping for the best.

you know i am so proud of how well you are taking care of him that i don't think he could be in better hands. im glad your vet is trying all they can as well, poor little one that must suck getting fluids that way but some times you just have to. i hope it is treatable and he gets better, but even if the worst comes to pass you have done everything you could for him and i think he knows that, and is grateful. you just keep it up! your doing great!

I am very sad to say that Jag passed away this morning. The poor little guy just couldn't hold on any more, and God knows he put up quite a fight.
Rest in peace, Jag.

I actually recieved a phone call from my vet this morning, letting me know that she did some further testing on Jag's fecal sample, and found that he had a kidney deficiency, which would've been fatal regardless of any medical help.
I want to thank all of you for the advice and support you gave me, I don't know how I would've gotten along without it.

I'm looking forward to rescuing more leo's in the future, but I will never forget dear little Jag. He truly was a special little guy.

Aw. I'm sorry. That is really sad. ): You did your best and gave him a great home while he was alive.

I don't think you ever will forgot Jag, and you shouldn't. I'm sure he was a great leo .
Definitely don't let this discourage you from getting another leo. If you need time, definitely take it. But I'm sure another leo is just waiting to come home to you Smile

I believe I'm going to get a leo from a breeder.
With rescues, I generally rehabilitate and re-home them.

im sorry he passed away but at least you gave him your all! you did your best and that is what truly matters. at least he isn't hurting anymore. i went threw something similar with my pet ferret, he stop eating and was being very sluggish when we took him to the vet, apparently he had gotten ulcers in is stomach and he was very dehydrated and wouldn't eat, we had to force feed him and give him shots of IV fluids trying to help him, we took him back into the vet and the vet found that he had a infection in his blood and there was nothing we could do, so we had to put the poor little guy down and he was barley even a year, but i will never forget him and i know we did everything we could for him. im sorry about jag but i'm glad he got to be with you for the last of his life, he couldn't have been in better hands.
