Reptile Carpet gets stuck in mouth! help please
I know your suppose to use carpet instead of sand. but when Louie go for a cricket and bites, the tiny little pieces of carpet get stuck in his mouth and he has a hard time pullin away. Im worried it might yank teeth out when he tries to pull away. any suggestions will help. Thanks.

I suggest ditching the carpet and using paper towels as substrate. Repticarpet tends to do what it's doing to your little one, and it has a reputation for being super hard to clean and sterilize, so it's a nice little breeding ground for bacteria.
Good luck.
Good luck.

thank you. sounds good to me. when do u suggest switching to sand?
Re: Reptile Carpet gets stuck in mouth! help please
I don't think you should ever switch them to sand. Some people say you can put them on play sand when they're adults, but they don't live in a sandy environment in the wild - the closest thing to their natural environment is using slate tiles, really. They live on hard-packed earth with minimal sand. Or you can keep using paper towels. Both options have little to no chance of impaction~

There's a great sticky in the housing section on making the perfect leo set up that could prove highly informative and helpful

Both sand and carpet are bad for leo's, haha.
Paper towels, or slate tile is best!

Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy your time here, and we are able to help you to the best of our abilities.
Don't use sand! Please! It can cause impaction in leos (which is a blockage), that can result in death if not treated quickly.
You should use paper towels or tiling (slate, ceramic or peel-n-stick). I personally LOVE tiles. They look great, and are super easy to clean. You can just wipe them down, no replacing or anything.
