My Lastest Addition

So me & sam now have yet another problem python, the sex is unknown but this baby is a Javan Reticulated Python. We only have a pic of its head through the tub at mo as its sheding and likes to try to bite once its shed i'll get some more pics of this little 2/3ft cutie

so do we but it's going to take a while to get it out of biting but hopefully all it needs is feeding up as its abit skinny at the mo x

Another rescue?
From what I can see in the picture, he/she looks gorgeous! How old until you find out the sex?

not a rescue, got him/her from a shop but they hadn't put it up for sale due to some problems it had had with a mite treatment and getting it feeding weekly, poor thing has only eaten 4times since the 1/7/11 due to its bad reaction to the mite treatment. We could sex it now but dont want to stress him/her out unfortunately Sam's not a fan of the reticulated python so she will only change its water daily and feed it once a week but handling will be left to me

Once those suckers get about 8 foot, I'd be weary of handling it too. They have a huge Burmese and reticulated at my local reptile specialty store, and I almost don't like going down that isle because of these huuuuge snakes. I mean, holy crap!

Still kind of a rescue then! Taking it in when it has so many problems is a rescue in my opinion!
How do snakes get mites? I saw a video about it on youtube once. Is it when they are kept in poor conditions?
Poor thing! Makes me sad hearing about it!
Maybe once he/she is used to being handled you can sex it!

I love retics, those cute big bug eyes, lol...the biting will fade....

we've since found out that this poor retic is a wild caught python so that prob how he came to have mites, once its eaten for a few weeks i'll get the vet to sex it properly as i dont like doing and gary would be to busy keeping hold of it also knowing its a wild caught animal i'll get a poo sample checked for parasites just incase. Fully grown the shop said this retic could be over 15ft and its the eyes i hate as they follow you everywhere bitting wise it struck at gary on monday night when we got it home but since all its done to me when i go in the tub is a open mouth threat no bite or hiss so hopefully it wont take long to get it handalble lol

I dont know how sam managed to handle him/her.. even with the gloves on

it has a very scary face and shortly after that pic when i went to put it back into its tub it did try to bite me !!! i was shaking the whole time i was holding it sarah as when gary went to unbag it on the night he picked it up it went for his face

It's a nice snake. Take it to a vet or specialist herp shop if you don't know how to sex it or if you don't want to. Any ideas why it's so aggressive?  It could be just head shy or frightened? 

It looks male to me with that long skinny tail. A friend of mine had a retic, she was 10-11 feet long. Nasty little bugger even tho it was captive bred, seems to be the nature of the beast.
