Re: Witnessing my FIRST leo shedding!! PIC HEAVY-ISH!
He did it!! He did very, very well! I only had to help him with one foot that was still stuck on his toes...other than that, all his toes look great! It appears that he also developed a little heart-shaped spot above his front, right arm! (you can see it on the third video very well).

He's spotting more!!

Awesome, I just love watching them shed. I never get tired of it, it still amazes me each time they shed.

You are a budding filmmaker Cerra! Its quite something watching them shed.
Looks like he's got a bold stripe coming through in his patterning.

This should be stickied to show other members a normal shedding.
So cool.

All Super Snows Albino's (and Super snows) have striped patterning. Its just the way they are really. So there's no such thing really as a 'Stripe Super Snow' or anything.
Probably my fave bit about the gene, the auto-striping lol

Grumpy has stripes

That is so awesome! Great pictures and videos!
I have never seen my leos shed. Miracle is so good at it. I wake up, and she has a little piece on her toes I help her with. I don't think I've had my baby leo long enough to see her shed yet. When I got her, she had just finished shedding. XD

Thank you for all of the comments, everyone! I'm glad I had the opportunity to record him and share his efforts with all of you!
Super Snow Albino? You might have to explain how he might be albino...I assumed he was just a plain ol' super snow since that's what his label was at the shop I purchased him from. Can you post pictures of a super snow and a super snow albino to show me the difference? I tried to find some online, but they have "bell" or "mack" in them..

A super snow is like the leopard gecko Karagain has just got.. pink with black spots/markings. It's basically a mack snow with double mack snow genetics.. making it a super mack snow or super snow
The stripes make it a super snow albino I think.. I'm buying a super snow albino from Jordan and it has stripes He can explain it more though lol

Re: Witnessing my FIRST leo shedding!! PIC HEAVY-ISH!
Well the one thing about an albino is obviously they can't produce black pigment.
All super snows have the striped spotting...
On a normal super snow the striped spotting is black, but an albino can't produce black so the spotting is brown.
It may just be the lghting in the picture, but your gecko's spotting looks to be brown. Making it albino.
But now you know the difference and you can take a look at your guy and decide for yourself whether or not he is a SS or SS Albino

Nothing plain about him - he is gorgeous either way, albino or not. I would love to own a snow (Mack or Super) but we don't get the unusual morphs here, only the common ones. So, IMO you are privileged to have him.
Jordan, since Cerra's little guy carries the albino gene and its not a good idea to cross breed the albino genes, how would you know which albino he could be crossed with?

Re: Witnessing my FIRST leo shedding!! PIC HEAVY-ISH!
Normally you can identify an albino from the eye, and firgure it out easily. However Super Snows have blacked out eyes so thats not a possibility here.
You have two optons, contact the first breeder and see if they know the strain of albino 100%, and ask for the parents genetics.
If that doesn't work out, then basically your stuck unless you go ahead with one method which some may consider unethical and some may consider necessary so here it is.
You all know about test breeding im sure. So you can go about test breeding this gecko for its albino strain. First of all i would start with a tremper albino. If this gecko is a Super Snow Tremper Albino, then all the babie would be Mack Snow Trempera Albino's therefore confirming it is a tremper albino. Which would be perfect, done and sorted.
However if all the babies came out just mack snows, and NOT albino's... then obviously the SS is not tremper and albino strains have been mixed. In which case... the genetic mutts should be culled.
And continue to test other strains.
I know it sounds harsh culling them for no reason, but its absolutely necessary, becaue leo's can live upwards of 20 years, its unlikely it will be kept and never bred in those 20 years. So its crucial not to let genetic mutts out into the world where they may be bred and muddy th waters.
Hope that all makes sense to you Jenni You seem very eager to learn.

Re: Witnessing my FIRST leo shedding!! PIC HEAVY-ISH!
I thought it would be a problem identifying the albino gene cos of the black eyes.
Prob best not to breed with another albino cos it would be risky and gambling so to speak. You mentioned culling the genetic mutts. How exactly would one go about culling a hatchling? Or should I start another thread for this topic?

Re: Witnessing my FIRST leo shedding!! PIC HEAVY-ISH!
The culling topic is always a hard emotion riddled topic so if you do feel that you need to have a greater explanation on culling practices it would be advised to start a new thread...
Awesome videos and pix cerra... all new and shiney I betcha he'll be shedding again in about 2 weeks and get a TON more spots before hes fully grown. It's amazing how much they change from hatchling to adult.
