What does it eat? What size enclosure? Can I keep it outside if the weather is good?

It could be a rat snake... how big is it? Where did you get it? is there any color on it at all? Is that a white spot near its left eye or a piece of crud? It generally isn't a good idea to keep any herp outside in a glass viv as the sun thru the glass is like a magnafying glass and will superheat the viv likely killing whatever is in there.

It's about a foot long.
Found it in a dirt pile.
I moved it to a washtub.

What you have there is a rough earth snake... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Note the similarities in the patterning of the head scales.

In the first link it also gives you more descriptive points such as counting the scales etc to help you be certain.

More info
PS they don't eat miec they eat bugs (eats worms, slugs, snails, and small frogs)

hope that helps Smile

Thank you. Unfortunately, the snake escaped Crying or Very sad (for me, not the snake.)

Ah probably better off that way anyhow. It's hard to get a wild collected snake like that to acclimate to captivity. Well at least if you find another you'll know what it is thumbs up 2
