Question About a Bare Bottom Tub Empty Question About a Bare Bottom Tub

Post by scm133 Wed Jan 18, 2012 11:38 am

I have two racks with 32 Qt tubs for my Leos. I am trying to transition over from crickets to roaches. I am using paper towels in my tubs. The problem is that the roaches hide under the paper towels, and are never eaten. Is it ok to just use bare bottom tubs?

You shouldn't have an issue with bare bottom tubs as long as you have a way to adjust your temperatures to compensate for the lack of substrait. Also you may want to consider using a folded paper towel in your leos potty corner to help with the mess and so they don't tread it all over should they walk thru it. You can simply remove this for feeding time so the bugs can't hide. Hope this helps Smile

I would personally just empty the tubs out to feed. A little more time spent never hurt anyone.

Thanks for the replies. I noticed one leo slipping around the bare bottom trying to catch one. It looked like I was defeating my purpose. Poor little thing..... looked like it was skating!!!

Dubia roaches can't climb smoothe surfaces. I just put mine in a ceramic dish with somewhat high sides, and they pretty much never escape. Smile
