styrofoam question

I'm going to redo my leo tank in detail, but i want to start by giving them a big custom cave to hide in... if i use strofoam as the structure do i paint it, cover it in grout... or what do i use to make it safe/realistic?

Styrofoam is a great tool when making custom vivs Smile

you can cut it into shape and melt it into shape!! You MUST cover it in 4-5 layers of grout (somewhat watered down) and use unsanded grout to give a nice sandy textured. You then need to paint it then vanish it a couple of times... let the fumes air out then you are ready!!!

This is actually my first post on here but i know its been about a month since you have posted about the Styrofoam so i dont know if you have finished your project or not but here is a link to a website that has Great Videos and info on How To DIY hides and backgrounds made out of Styrofoam for your Vivs. http://www.lizard-landscapes.com/index.html this is where i learned how to make my custom hides and what not for all of my Leo's hope this helps out.
