My New Baby!
So I went to Repticon today, and can I just say, WOW WOW WOW. Totally AMAZING. So much fun and so awesome to talk to other reptile enthusiasts. I met a ton of cool people.
I had originally intended on getting a girl just because I had the name Olive picked out already (it's a TV reference, don't worry about it, haha). I was looking at a selection of GORGEOUS leos, and a beautiful juvenile high-contrast raptor with red eyes caught my attention. She was priced really well and I was almost sold on her when I saw another leo out of the corner of my eye. Most of the leos looked really afraid, but this one was looking right at me. I went over to him and asked the breeder's permission to take him out (but now we had been chatting for a bit). This little fella was PRECIOUS. He wasn't skittish, but very friendly, and climbed right onto my hand and up my arm. I checked him out and he looked really healthy. A few more minutes lovin' on him, and I was sold. I haven't figured out the name situation yet, but he's beautiful and I'm in love!
He's a Firewater x Raining Red Stripe and two years old. He's 66% het Eclipse as well.
This one was about two minutes after I look him out.

Thanks, everyone! Still not sure about the name situation. I thought Oliver was cute (and still kind of what I had originally picked) but my family has been calling him Alfredo (Fredo for short) since I got him (yet another TV reference...anyone watch Pushing Daisies?).
I guess I'll see what his personality calls for over the next few days. Thoughts?

Re: My New Baby!
What a lovely gecko you have and personally I think the male geckos are the friendliest and nicest, thats in my personal experience. You can still get nice females though.
Re: My New Baby!
Oh I just love expos:) I am going to one myself tomorrow. You picked up a nice looking boy there. Very nice:)
Re: My New Baby!
he's a stunning big boy and very good choice you made with him

Re: My New Baby!
Funny, his favorite place to be is NEXT to his dry hot hide. Not in it, though he's napped in it a few times, but in the corner next to it. He seems to like lying on the thermometer probe. Should I move it? I'm sure it's affecting the readings.

Re: My New Baby!
My snake did that, I put in a smaller hide and he took right to it. Insecurity problems.
Re: My New Baby!
Interesting! I moved the hot hide that he liked to lay next to into the corner that he curls up in, and he seems to be loving it. He's not messing with the thermometer. Fun watching him explore today. He has no problem dragging hides out of his way to look around.

Re: My New Baby!
We finally settled on a name! Oliver is what stuck. I found him like this today and just had to take a picture.

Re: My New Baby!
very nice leo. looks like one of Bryan Jett's hatches. Did you happen to get him from Texas Reptile Exchange by chance?
Re: My New Baby!
That's exactly where/who I got him from! They were nothing but lovely to me, and very helpful. Had a beautiful selection of animals. I keep forgetting to email Bryan to thank him.
Life has been INSANE these last few months with school and everything, but Oliver's doing great! He sheds without any problems, eats like a champ, and it just all around a lovely animal. He's an awfully funny sleeper, though!

dawww he is awesomely hansom! i love how he sleeps, i cant wait until my girl gets old enough to sleep out of her hides. she is becoming a lot braver with age and i just love her. i am always afraid to go to any type of reptile expo cause i know i would want to buy so many little one >.< i would get my self in so much trouble with my land lord haha.
Re: My New Baby!
Looking really good and silly!
It's great to hear from you, as well. I was getting kind of worried!

HAHAHA, It's like, I am gonna climb this mountain, but why bother when I can just sleep on it
Re: My New Baby!
Thanks, everyone!
Kodie, I miss this place SO much. I'm a junior in high school, so it's been crazy trying to juggle school stuff, college prep, extracurriculars...and of course, time with my favorite scaly friend.
