My Bunny Squirrel :) (and Rebel)
Well after seeing all Sarah's recent baby pics, and having to video tape a couple rabbit how to videos for her today, I had 2 of the rabbits from our rabbitry out in the playpen and decided to have an impromptu photo shoot.
Squirrel, the more photogenic of the 2, is the mother of a lot of my top placing netherlands including this year's Best of Variety Jr at Nationals in Lebanon Pa Squirrel is also Rebel's mother but he never did well on the tables, he always got disqualified for being a lard a but at least the comments the judge did give evenif they wern't allowed to point him were still nice comments.
So with out adieu... this is squirrel. She is out of the Best of Breed winning netherland at the 2007 American Rabbit Breeder's Association Nationals. She didn't come with a name on her pedigree but just a number so until what we figured to call her by we just called her by her color... squirrel It stuck...
Taking a little time in the play pen
With my 6 year old Garrett (it was a stare down delux I think Gar lost )
Ready to run
I'm so pouffy
momma always said to wash your face...
and lastly...
Sooooo Big...
I was only able to get a couple of Rebel because he's a shy guy but he is a pretty chinchilla buck(boy). He has produced some nice babies for us that have done well on the show tables
Super chunk
Not happy about the photo shoot
**Just a side note for Sarah, Rebel is a really good example of the Chinchilla color and it's requirements as an agouti patterned rabbit. Notice the dark guard hairs, the practically white under coat (you can really see it on his triangle color on his nape, and the black ear lacing and top of his tail (if you can see his tail). Squirrel is the dilute to chinchilla and lacks the black guard hairs, has white or cream ear lacing and triangle color, as well as light top of tail.
So that's it for now... photo flood done

Sounds great sarah. Can't wait. By the way I have a 4 day old chinchilla baby in the nest if you want to see how they start out.

wow really cute.
I am not particularly into rabbits but she looks so dainty and poofy. Can see an attitude in those eyes.. I love it =D

Thank you... shes actually rather shy and a bit skittish but curious and loves petted. She's an excellent mother... the best in the rabbitry she's in a horrid moult in those pix... tis the season... when she's in coat she's really pouffy.
