marble eyed leopard gecko
there was a previous post about an eye coloration question in leopards, and i mentioned the marble eyed leopards...so instead of highjacking adams thread, i made one for a little conversation on this exciting new morph! i am going to get a few of these in the next month or so, and i am excited about the potential of these, especially when you immagine what the eyes will look like with albinism added to it!! not to mention the "hidden" type or enhancer genes these animals carry. these photos are from the urban reptile and used with permission to me by craig stewart.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]

Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
My two red eye hybinos have eyes similar to that. I thought that it was because they are kind of an unknown source but they have the marble look like that. Not as obvious but it is there if you stop and look at the really well.
Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
i have seen these in person, and i can tell you that they are ten times more visible in person! the pics really dont show how 3~D the eyes are! they are totally nuts in person, and if these turn out to be 500 bucks apiece, i am still buying at least 3 of em, they are THAT AWESOME!!!! cant even come close to how sweet they really are in person from the pics! and i am a huge fan of eyes, especially in the leopard geckos, there are soooo many cool eye looks in leos, even normal leos have awesome eyes! these are insane!!!

Thanks for reminding me Rick, i'd love to get one from you at some point! wouldn't even care about the international shipping costs lol.

Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
TUG creates many stunning geckos. Their colors just seem to be so pure, even their cheaper ones. Some of the ones Rick has costs hundreds from TUG. The APTOR I got from them is just stunning as well, although MUCH cheaper...lol
Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
they do have nice stuff! and i will be honest, i have an APTOR from them as well(i have two of them from tug) but the one is prettier than my $800 white and yellow sunglow! she is just really cool with some pastel pink patches on her neon yellow back, with some powder blue spots! she is quite neat to look at in person, and she is less than a hundred bucks! she is killer. craig(tug) does produce some of the nicest leopards on the planet! they look good in pictures, but to see them in person can be quite breathtaking!!! very cool leopards...

Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
The marble and eclipse eye may look "cool" to humans but I wonder how it looks through the gecko's eyes? Maybe the picture they are seeing is warped or fragmented and that can't be too cool can it? Would certainly freak me out! I have a bell albino and his vision is not great. He only sees the cricket once it has run past him and he often tries to grab a shadow on the paper towel thinking its food. Poor guy. And that's an albino's eyes, never mind the other morphs that I mentioned above. Sorry for throwing a spanner in the works here but I am thinking from a leo's perspective since it is always humans that have the final say.

Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
I didnt know albino leos had bad eyesight??
I once had an albino Mongolian gerbil and she was fine, and my rabbit's mom is albino and she's fine.. :/ I wonder what makes it different for reptiles... just curious because I might possibly been getting an albino leo soon.

Re: marble eyed leopard gecko
ALL albinos have less rods and cones int heir eyes to interpret color and dimension so yes most albinos have limited vision but some are more impacted than others. Obviously mammals have more acute vision which might be why there doesn't seem to be problems with the cat or gerbils, they rely on vision more than herps do. Herps rely more on scent and heat than vision.
