Excavator Substrate
Since this basically works like clay, in my opinion, I was thinking of maybe using this instead of toeing the line with grout when it comes to styrofoam backgrounds.

Re: Excavator Substrate
I was going to buy some of this when I first got banana.. because I watched a video of a breeder on youtube.. and one of her leopard gecko tanks had it. It's great because it dries rock hard
Re: Excavator Substrate
Yeah, that's what I would love about it. You don't have to worry if its reptile say or not, you don't have to worry about it every actually breaking down, and it looks good!
Re: Excavator Substrate
well if you get some.. please post some pics and I might just buy some for myself :P
Re: Excavator Substrate
They have a 25 pound bag of it for 25 USD on Amazon. If I get spare money, I might go for it!
Re: Excavator Substrate
Yeah, especially since Amazon says that a 25 pound bag lists for over 100 USD normally. A 77% discount to get it for 25, lol!
Re: Excavator Substrate
That sounds really cool Kodie. If you do it I definitely want to know how it goes. I have seen it advertised but was a little incredulous of it.
Re: Excavator Substrate
The thing to watch out for, so I hear, is that stuff does tend to crumble and your leo can ingest the pebbes that break away so be careful with it.
Re: Excavator Substrate
This stuff is very good from what I have heard. You sculpt hides and tunnels for you leo's and can look really naturalistic! As long as you let it dry and "hoover" up any loose bits there really shouldnt be a problem
