Hi and welcome to the forum! I am Jolene and the super of the leopard gecko section, but there are quite a few of us here with great knowledge.

To be honest, it sounds like you are doing a great job so far. I was honestly waiting for the "I have him on and" which is what most pet stores suggest, so you are already ahead of the game.

I do have two questions for you, are you using any type of heat and what are you feeding? It would be great if you wanted to start a new thread in the husbandry section under the leopard gecko section, just keeps things in order....lol Very Happy

So happy to have you here!

I'm new to the forum and i'm trying to persuade my parents to get me my first leopard gecko. Do i need a calcium dish in a gecko tank. What's the point in that?

hahah it took me a while to persuade my mom to let me get my gecko Very Happy I know how you feel lol

You need a calcium dish with pure calcium in so that your gecko can eat the calcium whenever it needs it. It just makes sure that it's getting enough calcium to maintain optimum health Smile you also need to dust your insects with calcium + vitamin d3 powder. the vitamin d3 allows your gecko to absorb the calcium you give it and use it within it's body.
