Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
Basically the same. Not accepting feeders and not eating those that are left out. For the past couple days he has had a small amount of brownish pigment to his poops (as opposed to just white) but I'm sure that's only coming from the small amount of worm/corn syrup mixture I've been able to get into him. He's been spending the bulk of his time during the day inside his wet hide, so I've been sure to keep it nice and moist for him.
I'm going to try just leaving feeders out for the next couple days. I fear that the extra handling is making things worse but also that he's wasting away. Finding a balance is really difficult for me.
Some more bad news is we have Bonnaroo next week. It's a music festival that lasts 5 days. It was expensive though, and I don't want to stay behind when I may or may not even be helping him by force feeding, but I also fear I will return home to a dead gecko.

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
Have you had his poo tested for worms or anything? if you find out if there is a under lying cause you might stand a better chance with him.
I know how hard it is to work out if what you are doing is for the best, i've been there and some pull through and start eating but other dont. Have you ever weighed the little to see if he's gaining or lossing weight.
Have you got anyone who could take care/check on him? If not the only thing you can really do is leave mini-mealworms in a bowl for him and give him a good syringe feed the day you go.
hope he gets better

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
No, up until recently there wasn't really anything to test. It was just white stuff that soaked into the paper towel. Now it's white and brown stuff that soaks into the paper towel. But I'll call my vet about whether they could use that for some tests. I've tried to weigh him but my scale doesn't measure small enough increments. It says he weighs nothing, lol.
I don't trust my roommate to feed him, and I don't really have anyone else that could. I'm taking my dog to my dad's while I'm gone, but I don't want to transport the gecko. Plus I don't really trust anyone but me to be gentle enough to syringe feed him. I'll probably just leave him with lots of water and feeders and hope for the best.

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
just a idea but maybe it might be a good idea to stripe everything out of his tank apart from his hides, food & water bowls as i cant help wondering if the dried plant might be causeing a problem.
the vets might be able to scrap some poo off and mix it with water to get a sample that they can us under the micro-scope to give you a better idea whats going on with him. also have you tryied giveing the little guy a luke warm bath to make sure hes not getting to dehydrated.
i know how you feel about not trusting anyone to be as careful/gentle with your leo as you are, i dont even trust my other half with my leo's that need special care

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
Yeah, I've been giving him a 15 minute soak in warm water every time I syringe feed him. I've actually already removed the plants because they were getting annoying to move when I changed the paper towel. I'll talk to the vet.

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
Well, it's all over. Gallifrey died sometime in the night. I found him upsidedown, not breathing. He had a slight small dot showing through around his stomach area. I don't know if that means anything about his cause of death.
Anyway, thanks for all the advice guys, but I don't think I'll be back here for a while.

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
I am soooo sorry to hear that . Please, when you are ready for another keep us in mind. It is never easy to have a loss.
I am not very good with stuff like this so I can just say sorry to hear the news.

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
Just another thought. There is a memorial section here as well. When I lost one of mine I found it helped to make the memorial and share my memories with everyone.

Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
Aw thats a realy shame, don't let it put your off reptiles, it was a tough start for you, and it wasnt the best situation for you to start in. I'm sure with your love care and dedcation, if you started with a healthy gecko, it would have thrived.
Re: Possible diarrhea? Parasite?
So sad. The dark spot was likely his liver visible thru his belly. Not likely part of why he didn't make it. You did your best with a highly difficult situation. We're here when you're ready.
