So I just got my first leo and they told me she is a tangerine tremper poss. het. raptor

I have no clue what any of this means since i'm so new to this, could someone explain each thing? I wanna know what makes her classified this way!! What I mean is what does poss. mean, het. mean, raptor mean, etc

I'm really into genetics and would like to learn all I can about it!

Tangerine Tremper possibly heterozygous for RAPTOR

- A tangerine leopard gecko is basically an orange gecko. The orange will vary in intensity from gecko to gecko. Smile

- Tremper = Tremper Albino. This is one of the three albino strains for leopard geckos (other two are Rainwater albino and Bell albino)

- possibly heterozygous = the chance that your gecko has recessive genetics for the RAPTOR leopard gecko morph.

- RAPTOR means "Ruby/Red-Eye Albino Patternless Tremper ORange.

Hope this helps thumbs up 2

So, really, your gecko is actually just het for Red Eye and Patternless, since it's already a Tremper and Tangerine. Smile

What this means, though, is that if you were to breed your gecko to another het RAPTOR or RAPTOR you would make RAPTOR's.

This is what a RAPTOR is:

Thanks a bunch guys now it all makes sense! I had no idea about all the genetic stuff and it's definitely good to know for the future in case I ever think about breeding her Smile
