My Rabbitry (and a couple new residents)
Ok so I told Sarah I would post some updated pix of my rabbitry for her so here we go.
This will be like a little walking tour around my rabbitry. some things are still being finished, moving my rack system after it's done, and splitting my HUGE 30"x36" cages in half to double our capacity will be in the very near future (like hopefully this weekend ).
So starting out entering my rabbitry the first thing you see is my grooming station. Well actually it's for grooming, medicating, teeth trimming, breeding, teaching babies to pose, ... pretty much everything. Stored under my grooming table is a bale of pine chips for cleaning trays, a half bale of orchard grass hay for the buns, a shelf with other meds, tools, coop cups and water bottles.
On my talble are all my needed things... the oats carton aren't all oats two has oats, one has black oil seeds and one has striped sunflower seeds (it helps with moulting). You'll see a spray bottle of white vinegar and water (a disinfectant), a roll of paper towels, and possibly my brushes, dried papaya (helps with hair balls) those paper towel rolls get cut in half and the bunnies love to play with them.
Next we see the table and how it fits into the rabbitry:
that green rug you see in the foreground is on top of Prince's cage. This is what you see if you turn around from the grooming table directly behind you (and in front of my heater):
These are Prince (top left), Norman (top right (he's just a baby)), and Marilyn, my resident freaky french lop on the bottom.
Going into my horseshoe of rabbit cages on the left bottom are my boys cages. This is where I keep most of the Bucks:
On the top are the 36's I'm gonna be splitting in half. Also up top are a boy and a girl, brother and sister, Alice and Mel. Alice currently has a litter of SIX babies... including some really freaky colors. (*Now for some bonus pix for Sarah... BABY BUNNIES!!!):
We use soda boxes for our nest boxes... netherlands fit perfectly in them (that's Lola in there tho not Alice).
Here is Alice's latest litter of SIX babies...
The lil orange wonder
I have no idea how we got an orange one in the lot... serious recessive gene there but it's adorable...
and his black silver marten sibling
Those babies were born on 4/20/11 so just a week old yesterday. All together there were 2 black silver martens, 2 chestnut brown, 1 chinchilla and 1 orange.
The next 2 babies are from the same mother (different fathers tho) that just gave me the doe that won BOV at Nationals. Another good little contender... can't wait for this doe to grow.
and her brother Sammy Jr. getting his pose on
Not very on the mark as far as his show type goes but I need another broken buck as his daddy is old and ready to retire. I can work on type later. He's the runt of the litter. These guys were born on 3/7/11 so they're just a little over 7 weeks old. 2 girls (look like twins) and a boy.
Better pic of the boys cages:
Along the back wall are more 36's that are going to be split up. At this time only the bottom left one is split. That is shared by Sammy and Rebel.
The stack of cages to the right foreground are my breeding does (the 2 on top) and the large bottom cage is for weaned litters.
Better pic of the does and litter cage:
Lastly this is a pic of my new rack. It'll be moved next to the Doe's cages in the horseshoe once it's done in the next day or so.
I still have to add the last set of guide tracks for the top cage ... next to my rack is all the storage for my travel cages, extra cages, my photo background,. etc. and of course just the corner of a bale of straw for nest boxes.
So that's pretty much it ... hope you enjoyed it.

Re: My Rabbitry (and a couple new residents)
Thanks se I told ya it doedsn't have to cost a fortune to have a small rabbitry. I think mine would fit into a 13 square foot room. Babies are cute aren't they altho one of my older ones (speck. I'll post a pic of her later) nibbled my finger cause she didn't want to work on her pose anymore and sweet Igor lunged at me but she's ready to breed. Her lady parts are all swollen. Glad you liked the pictoral tour
Re: My Rabbitry (and a couple new residents)
haha my females are always 'growling' at me and not wanted to be bothered lol especially now that they are pregnant and my males are territorial in their cages and growl at me when i'm getting them out.. but once they are out they are little sweeties
