Wish Iggy-Pop Luck :)
As some of you know poor Iggy-Pop is being castrated and this will be happening tomorrow morning, and after chatting to the vet today i've found out that it is quite a hard opperation that carry's high risk of Iggy-pop dieing while being opperated on due to some of what needs to be removed being attached to a main blood vesel So hopefully everything will go fine and i'll be bringing Iggy-pop home tomorrow evening minus his reproductive system

Good luck Iggy-pop! Hope you come home to recover physically and mentally from becoming a little less than a man.

Re: Wish Iggy-Pop Luck :)
Well just phoned the vets to see how Iggy-pop is doing and all went well with his opperation & he has come round fine and is in the viv licking everything but on a more entertaining note when they opened up Iggy-pop they found female parts not male parts so the poor girl has been being called a cute boy when it wasn't lol
we'll be collecting Iggy-pop in just over a hour

O_O !!!!!!!
NEVER guessed that! Holy smokes! That's insane!
He's been a she all along. Wow.
So can the surgery have a chance of improving her attitude like it would a boy?
Give us an update on how SHE is doing later on!

Re: Wish Iggy-Pop Luck :)
It was a bit of a suprise but i had joked with the vet the night before about wouldn't it be funny if he opened up Iggy-pop to find he was a she and the vet laught at me and said either way he wont be keeping any of the sexual organs My vet thinks even tho iggy turned out to be female, removing the sexual organs there for reducing hormones produced should make her calmer and easyier to tame down once she's healed from the laser surgery he done to remove the ovaries and shed out her stitches on the 2/3inch long opening. The opperation was also slightly easyier for the vet being as he was a she lol.
Well now Iggy-pop has been home for 2hours, she has settled back into her empty viv & had some spring greens for dinner as the vet said i could feed her once we got her home. She is currently sunning herself under the heat bulb so i would say she is doing well and she has a post op check next thursday at 5-10pm.

I guess Iggy-pop came back a LOT more than "less of a man". Hopefully all goes well for the healing process.

That is certainly interesting! Only time will tell if removing the ovaries helps to make her more docile. At least iggy-pop is back home and on the mend.

Re: Wish Iggy-Pop Luck :)
Well now theres a surprise twist. Sending good vibes to you sam and iggy pop.
Something you might want to talk to your vet about or research on your pwn is if herps are like dogs hormone wise. When you spay a female dog, and all a female is is a male wih an extra chromosome, so they flow estrogen and testosterone, when you spay you remove the major estrogen producing parts of the animal granted he adrenal/thyroid and secondary glands still produce sex hormones but not as much, they tend to act more "male" since now your testosterone producing glands are more dominant with the removal of the ovaries. Spaying female dogs to calm them down is generally counter prodctive...
Not that I want to be the nay sayer here bu it is a highly debated topic in the canine world, and I know you sam, you like the intellectual challenge and furthering your knowledge to help your rescue efforts so it could be a nice topic for debate with your vet to see leo physiology would lend itself to similar pitfalls from desexing as mammals do.
Best of luck... iggy pop sounds like she's resting comfortably

Re: Wish Iggy-Pop Luck :)
Yep Iggy-pop def came back alot less man Cerra lol
Well Jenni hopefully the time will prove the vet right and she will calm down
Thanks Kel Yeah I might just have to do some research into as well as trying to find out whats wrong with Dave the crestie, I know alot of people that I spoke to before hand on facebook didn't agree with it as they reckoned it doesn't work but the vet said he had had success in other iggys he done the same opperation on.
Iggy-pop has eaten well today and pooed that many times i've lost count of how many times i've changed her news paper lol i think she's abit sore too as she's not been as active unless the bearded dragons have been scratching the glass then she has joined in lol.

LOL! You jinxed him/her!
I'm glad she's healing a bit at a time. I hope she's in as little pain as possible, and I hope that the surgery works the way it was hoped it would!
