What's your leos diet ?
Hi I was just wondering what everyone else feeds their leo's? anke get 3-4 small locusts every other day and on the days where anke doesn't have locusts he/she get fed about 3 meal worms. the locusts are dusted with calcium each time they are offered and then dusted one day a week with vitamin powder. anke also has a bottle cap full of pure calcium left in the viv.

Re: What's your leos diet ?
Mine get a mixture of superworms and dubia roaches as their staple diet. I buy some crickets every 2-3 weeks to feed my geckos as treats. Crickets annoy me, with their chirping, jumping, smelly smell, and how they just seem to die off with no good reason. So I'm using crickets as treats and my geckos love occasional crickets
I use mealworms for smaller hatchlings & young juveniles. And they get repashy calcium plus dusted twice a week, got calcium in a bottle cap in the tank at all time, and I also use zoo med's reptivite without D3 for dusting every other feeding.

I used to feed anke crickets but when I went to get them out of the tub to be dusted they used to escape and you used to find the occasional one round the house .

Re: What's your leos diet ?
I feed mine Dubias, he loves them. After I introduced roaches, he refused to eat anything else

Re: What's your leos diet ?
I feed mine mealworms (for the babies), and mealworms + superworms to my adult. I feed crickets occasionally to Miracle, my adult, but she doesn't like them very much :P. I have to unfortunately keep them though for my frog and golden gecko.
I also feed waxworms, butterworms and phoenix worms occasionally as a treat once or twice a week.

Re: What's your leos diet ?
I feed Typhon mealworms as a staple that are gutloaded with carrots, a teeny bit of EVO ferret food (50% protein, 10% moisture, 21% Fat, 1.5% fiber, and no fillers that smell horribly like Marshall's), apples, and the occasional Fluker's orange cube. I finally was able to get him to try wax worms, but I'm only giving them as a treat (two a week...week and a half).
I'm thinking about grabbing a few small dubias, but I'm afraid of escapes sooo... And when I was working in the food industry, I'd step out back by the bins and I had a roach fly continuously at me...it kept hitting me in the face and I had to comb it out of my hair with my fingers...so I kind have started developing a bit of a phobia of roaches.

Re: What's your leos diet ?
lol poor Tsuhei thats horrible, if you get dubia roaches they cant climb plastic or glass and they don't fly or jump so that's a good thing. as for what i am feeding charm, right now i am feeding super worms and meal worms ( im only feeding her the mealies to get rid of the ones i have left lol) and im trying to start my own small dubia roach colony. i hope to some day get her some silk worms as well but they are anoying to breed and no one sells them were i live so i will have to order them online. as for supplements i use Rapashy superfoods leopard gecko calcium plus and i dust her food every time she eats. because i dust them so much i dont have a calcium dish in with her. (Kermit told me to do it this way so she wouldn't get calcium bubbles) i feed her 1 super worm and 4 mealies every day. is it alright to feed her every day as long as i watch her weight? or is there another reason not to feed them every day? ( she is only 6 months old)
Re: What's your leos diet ?
anke gets fed every day as he/she is around that age perhaps a little younger. And i think iit;s fine to do so.

Re: What's your leos diet ?
Ember ( my baby ) gets 4-6 mealies a day ( She chooses lol ), my big boys get between 4-8 supers every other day and 8-12 crickets once or twice a week ( Since I have to feed my brother's beardie too.)
I want to get rid of the crickets and get Dubia, but my parents hate bugs ( And reptiles lol ) and I'm not even supposed to have the mealworms/supers in the house.
My boys ( Who are nearly adults ) also get the occasional wax/silk/butter/Phoenix worms. ( Probably 1-3 of one kind each week )
I like feeding a variety....

Re: What's your leos diet ?
That's a good diet your leo's are getting, I am thinking of feeding Dubia's as well as locust's and mealworms; but I have to convince my parents especially my mum to let me keep them in the house. (my parent's hate bugs as well).

Re: What's your leos diet ?
Stella gets dubias, meealies, and a treat of 2 waxies per week. Once she is big enough, she will be sharing superworms with my beardie instead of the mealworms.
I might order some Phoenix worms and hornworms for Thanksgiving though LOL, so my lizards can celebrate too!

Re: What's your leos diet ?
Yes it's fine to feed mealworms, dubias, and superworms. Variety diet is a good thing, and I dislike crickets myself. But I do purchase 20 crickets every other week to feed to my geckos as "treats". They seem to love them in small doses.
Re: What's your leos diet ?
im not allowed crickets in the house any more after finding several escapees, I think once ive used up some more of my locusts I am going to by some dubias.

Re: What's your leos diet ?
My girls get mealies, supers and crickets. All are pre fed a gut load and I dust the crickets with calcium every third feeding to help them out. They had issues when I got them and they still need some help. But they are getting big

Re: What's your leos diet ?
we just got our Tangerine Leopard Gecko and the petstore of course told me not to feed ours mealworms. Iam not 100% sure how old she is but she is about 3-4inch long. Will it take her awhile to get use to eating mealworms?

Re: What's your leos diet ?
thats dumb i wonder why they said that... i think it might take her a bit to eat some but in no way do i think they are bad for them.
Re: What's your leos diet ?
We don't get all the feeder worms here in South Africa, eg. phoenix worms, butterworms & wax worms are not available at all. So my leos don't get any "treats" as such but I feed them a staple diet of super worms (meal worms as babies & juveniles) and offer crickets, dubias, silkworms every now and then. All feeder insects are gutloaded and dusted prior to feeding. Something I only tried recently was to give them flying "ants" (actually termites) without their wings and they ate them no problem. This was interesting and I have not heard of anyone else doing it.

Re: What's your leos diet ?
My adults get Superworms i.e. Morioworms with the odd cricket or locust (my cresties eat those)
My hatchling eats small crickets and won't touch mealies
and the juvies are on mealworms and crickets

I'm considering trying to feed my gecko some dermestid beetle larvae. considering they eat dead flesh i think they should be nutritious, right?
