Leopard Gecko Pore Close-up (Sexing)
Hi,
A fellow forumer suggested that I use my macro set-up to show the gender of a male and female Leopard Gecko. This is the best I can do. Hope this helps. I am attaching the link of a 1280px size. Feel free to save the image.
Juvenile Male

Juvenile Female (Note that there are dimpled pores and pores actually with holes. The difference with the males is that the male's has the waxy substance) This is a 100% sure female.

Looks really good, nice and close! The only thing I would suggest is that you might try and include the hemi-pene bulges after the vent for the female; just to show that females can have the bulges and still be female. ;D

very nice i wish i had your camera i love the detail it picks up. i have a some questions for you guys. i was wondering why the males have those holes but then i read that they have a waxy substance, what is it for? is it for marking their turf? and also how old do leos usually need to be before you can tell the sex?
Re: Leopard Gecko Pore Close-up (Sexing)
Males give off a slight waxy subtance to rub on the floor as they walk during breeding season. They'll walk around rubbing their pelvic area on the floor to yes mark their turf and it also signifies to females they are ready to breed I believe. You'll see it most during breeding season and when a male first reaches maturity. Which is between 6 - 9 months ish. And you can sex by this point.
