my friends new corn snake
my friend has just got a corn snake and i was just wondering do u have to supplament snakes with anything ... the snake is 8months old and eats pinkys about once a week .. also do they have to be at a certian temputure?? and how do you sex snakes because she would love to know weather she has a lil lady or lil man

no need for supplements with them as they get there calcium out of there food.

i knw she is beautiful isnt she... well she has a heatmatt under her viv and im wondering wether my friend will need a thermostate becuase the snake tends to not go on the heatmatt and just go in the cool side under her water bowl or is this normal?? she only has a little viv its one of the starter kits one platic lid and that but she is palnning on getting a 4ft viv becuase that around about how big the corn will get

Stunning. Looks like a anery to me.
You cant really Visual sex a snake, you either have to have it popped or probed. a reptile shop should be able to do this. I suggest you wait till around 1 year to age, that way the risk of problems are reduce x

we use heat lamps with all our snakes but the few small pythons gary has our on heatmats and they tend to get under the kitchen roll at the cool end of there tubs. heatmats should always be run on thermostats to prevent the animal getting too hot.
corns can get to 6ft as me and gary found out a few years back when we took 2on from someone who was going traveling

why my post bright pink ?
Yes we have heat lamps in all our snakes apart from the boa. Corns tend to get to around 4 foot but can get as big as 7 Ive seen them (though this is rare)

ok cool ill get my maate to get a thermostate and help her out with that... i thought that it maybe to hot for the snake , i did wonder thats why i wanted all of yours advice, if you could do a care sheet for me that would be great hun , she has had a snake before and she mainly knows what she is doing but i wnated to make sure .. thanks and charlie your post is bright pink because i put thanks on it lol
