Hooray!
Two reasons to celebrate:
1. LGF now has a section dedicated to Chameleons! Thanks Jordan!
2. Last night I got my Veiled to drink water from a leaf that I was holding while dripping water onto it from above! Not that he has not drunk before but this was literally from my hand. And if you know Chameleons, then you will know that they are very anti-social and don't like people anywhere near them so this was amazing with us standing right in front of him. Really really chuffed!

Aw! That sounds so cute.
Gotta be honest though, chameleons kinda scare me lol. I don't know why, but they do XD

Re: Hooray!
hahah they are kinda scary when they run up your arm and onto your shoulders.. and when your tutors try to move them, they hiss and refuse to move I was sooo scared lol
I love their legs through.. i think their feet are so fascinating
I can't wait to see photos of your veiled chameleon.. my college (although i've finished now) had a noseybee panther chameleon.

Re: Hooray!
Sarah, here is a pic of my Veiled Chameleon. They are Old World Chameleons (from the "Old World" being Africa and Madagascar) and originally from Yemen in Saudi Arabia. He is 11mths old and his name is Helmut (this was cos I thought his casque looked like a helmet - lol).
These were taken 2mths ago and he has just finished a shed so he has grown a little. All in all, a big chameleon.

wowowowowowow
He is gorgeous
Is he easy to handle?
I think it would be lovely if you made a caresheet for chams

Re: Hooray!
No, he is terrible to handle and hates it. Veileds are the most aggressive chameleons and can give a nasty bite. We only handle him on weekends when he wants to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Even then he will hiss and gape when he climbs up your arm cos he doesn't want to do it but the urge to be outside is stronger. We rescued him almost 4mths ago so we don't know how he was handled and treated previously but I have seen videos on YouTube of chameleons that don't mind being handled. I guess it depends on their upbringing. I still want to get a baby and hand rear it cos I am very patient and gentle and believe that I can "tame" it to a point where it will readily climb onto my hand.

Re: Hooray!
My cousin has a veiled and he doesn't really LIKE to be handled but tolerates it for a short time..i think they are like people...some are grumpy...some are not....he is nice to look at though;)

Re: Hooray!
I have read about the shower but have not tried it yet. I need to make a suitable "lattice" with sticks, vines and fake plants that I can use in the shower to put him on cos my potted plants are way too heavy to carry all the way there. Also the live plants in his terrarium are fixed to the extra highways and byways with cable ties so no getting them outta there!

Re: Hooray!
Oh i see. I just bought a nice sized hibiscus plant for his free range, and so ill take that down and put it in the shower for him along with some sticks i found in the desert. He gets 2showers a week to make sure hes hydrated. He doesnt like to drink when i mist him and hardly drinks out of his dripper. They are the biggest brats
