So when I set my fat tail tank I picked up an UTH and when I set up my leopard gecko tank I used the CHE...which is better, more natural? I think I like the CHE more then the under tank heater personally but want to know what is better.

leopards need belly heat. i would go with the uth personally. i use flexwatt on all of my leos. flexwatt is just a type of heat tape i use as a uth. what alot of people dont realize though, if you have a large rock under a ceramic h.e. or a light, they will absorb heat and act as belly heat when the leos lay on them. and if you think about it, the rocks in the wild where leos are from get the heat from the sun so essentially, the heat comes from the sun, but the animals lay on the warm rocks for belly heat...but if you dont have something under the light to absorb and hold heat, i would deffinately go with the under tank heating unit.

Ceramic Heat Emitter ( screws into a light socket, produces heat but no light)

Ceramic Heat Emitters are only good for heliotherm lizards, that bask and absorb heat from the sun, like Bearded Dragons.

Leopard geckos and African fat-tailed geckos are thigmotherm lizards, that absorb the heat from their surroundings, as belly heat.. soo they need a heat strip or heat mat (UTH).

Ah ceramic heat emitters... duh geek they are also good for elevating the ambient air temps in your viv which really isn't needed for leos because of what sarah said.
