Temperature?

Temperature?
Okay so I have reviewed the housing stickeys and all of that but I am still unsure about temperatures.
I understand the the most important thing is belly heat and I have that all monitored out and set up but does the air temperature in the habitat need to be high and if so how high? Room temperature proves to be 70-80degrees Fahrenheit and the moment.
And also, I was wondering, would a dimmed LED light be bad for the Leo's eyes?

Re: Temperature?
Led lights can be very bright to leos, even dimmed. You'd be better off just using a regular 15 watt incandescent bulb. Your air temp is fine at room temperature as long as it doesn't go below 65*f.

Re: Temperature?
That clamp lamp with the dimmer is really cool. I think that a 50 watt moonlight blue is too hot. I have a 25 and it adds about 6 degrees to my overall temps when I use it which I only do when I want to steam up my leos moist hide really well like when he's in the middle of a shed. If you're making temps with the mat alone there is no need for additional lighting to add heat. If you're just wanting it for viewing pleasure then go with the lowest wattage you can find and the dimmer dome lamp should make it so you can still view with out adding too much excessive heat which will degrade your humidity needs very fast.
Re: Temperature?
would this bulb fit into that dimmer?
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752562
i would be getting the 25watt bulb...
so just to be sure, it IS okay to use the moonlight bulb 24/7? my thought is i would also use it as a day/night cycle along with viewing pleasure.... i would keep it a bit brighter during the day and at night i would dim it down pretty low... is that okay for a day/night cycle?

Re: Temperature?
Your leo shouldn't be able to see the spectrum of the blue light at all. If you're looking to make a day/night cycle then you need the low watt incandescent bulb. How are you heating your viv?
Re: Temperature?
there is an adjustable heating pad that sits under about half of the long 20gal i have
i am going to try the 75watt blue bulb in that dimmer and see how much it increases the temperature by and if it gets too hot i can return them becuz our petsmart has an easygoing return policy
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752562
do you think this bulb would fit in that dimmer? even tho it isn't an incadescent? and also would the 25watt be too hot for night viewing?
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11757835
here is a 15watt incadescent-i'd get a 2pack clear
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11252592
or should i get this 25watt incadescent instead of the 15watt? -i'd get a 2pack clear
